I saw you turn fluid in half turn at 16:10 on the second coat, what is the reason? Thank you.

Good catch, I wanted a little better atomization. By reducing the volume a bit it produces a flatter finish.

If I have a basecoat line from a body shop repair in the fender should I just use 600 and rebase and clear? Appreciate the advice!!! Love the vids

Whenever I tack white colors, it seems to always leave part of the clothes behind. When I clear, it’s just bumps everywhere. I’ve tried various rags and base brands. Any idea why that is, or suggestions?

Am a beginner can u spray clear coat two turn on fluid?
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
Yes, with less air pressure. Less fluid less air pressure. If you find it's spraying dry or creating orange peel . Then you need to bump up the volume .

Hi mate, wondering hows the 3M gun nozzle holding up? Do you replace it often? Im thinking to get that gun but some mix reviews on regarding need to replace the nozzles often put me on hold. Anyway thanks for the video 😊
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
I rarely have had to replace them. I only paint like 3 cars a week tho. I think as long as you keep them clean . I wouldn't let that stop you from getting it.
@ntonytay2 жыл бұрын
@@GarageNoise yeah im not painting in production bodyshop and might be painting once a week or twice a month. Anyway thanks for ur opinion, I'll go ahead and get one and try it out. By the way the gun requirements abit high cfm of air required. If not mistaken its ard 13cfm required which my current home compressor i believe is ard 10.5cfm. not really sure will it affect the gun spraying out base n clear.
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
@@ntonytay I've been able to dial back my volume and spray with less air pressure and still get good results. With no booth I try to spray with as little overspray as possible.

ok lets say after you clear it and in 2 days you want more clear on it do you need to sand it or just wipe ot down and put more on it how would you do it ?
@GarageNoise11 ай бұрын
Sand it with 6or 800 mask off and then you can clear

Nice job again. I tried to paint a raw bumper and it was a complete shit show. Used Prep all to clean, then washed with scuff wash and gray scotch, rinse, used static wipe, then adhesive promoter, primer and soon as I sprayed the base... it just starts to bubble and pull the primer. I just shut everything down and went home. All day today trying to get the bulk of the primer feathered or completely off. Shit show.
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
That sucks, it happens. I've had many days like this. You did it right get away decompress . Tomorrow will be better
@Macmonkey10002 жыл бұрын
Seems like the solvents in your base softened the primer, had similar experiences. I find using 2k products lessens this happening greatly, the cross- linking that occurs due to the hardener seems to make 2k paints far less likely to wrinkle when another layer of wet paint is applied.
@naijabuzoy2 жыл бұрын
@@Macmonkey1000 That makes sense. After taking a day to clean the bumper for a reset, I repeated the process and for some reason the wrinkling happened again but this time only to one corner of the bumper. I was so defeated when that happened because the whole thing was looking quite professional before the wrinkles showed up. Sealer Primer is 4:1:1 (slow+hardener) Base is 1:1 Is the slow reducer causing the problem?
@Macmonkey10002 жыл бұрын
@@naijabuzoy could be I guess, I rig up a cheap IR lamp meant for snakes or lizards :-) and make sure I heat the paint for while to drive out the solvents. Slow reducer will take longer to evaporate for sure though. If your adhesion promoter is a one component type. from a rattle can, maybe that's the issue. Anything that's purely air dried with no activator, has the potential to turn to mush again if enough solvent gets to it.
@raykreutzer3478 ай бұрын
If your primer says DMT does that mean you can only spray it on metal or spray on sanded paint to. And what's a good sealer.
@GarageNoise8 ай бұрын
DTM means in addition to it normal use it's also good fordirect to metal
