Great Video! I have been storing then starting my C3 Corvette every 6 months as my car never sees winter. The only things I do differently as routine is instead of oil injected in the cylinders, I spray WD40 and I also change the Plugs EVERY year with Champion Platinum gapped to .045. I do exactly what you did with the distributor and it crank engine at least 6 time to create oil pressure without engine firing. For those who never grew up with a real car (lol) the C3 normally requires a full press of the accelerator, hold for 5 sec and release. (This opens the choke) as car is not fuel injected. This is always done for a cold start. When starting cold, after release of the accelerator, turn engine over and pump accelerator twice and turn over till fires.

On an older motor like that especially Chevrolet it is best to pull the distributor and turn the oil pump with a oil pump attachment on a drill the lubricate the whole motor that solves your problems

You should fill the carb thru the bowl vents. I cringe when I see people cranking and cranking an old engine when it will start just fine if you fill the bowls. Use a rich 2 stroke mix too just to lube everything up nice. And pour some down the carb too. 2 stroke mix

Why do you squirt oil into each cylinder instead of using fogging spray?
@Anthony-ll4nh
@Anthony-ll4nh 2 жыл бұрын
A couple of things. You didn't run the oil pump with a drill. Maybe turning it over with the starter motor was enough? You also had leaks from the carb, and old gas in the lines. Probably should have rebuilt the carb with new gaskets and seals and tried to clean out the lines. But it worked.
@ProblemSolverGarage
@ProblemSolverGarage 2 жыл бұрын
I cleaned All the old gasoline out of the lines and the fuel pump and the gas tank in episode one of the series. My biggest concern was getting oil on the piston rings and moving them by hand. I ordered a carburetter rebuild kit but it was on back order, I am rebuilding the carb this week and making an episode about it, the carburetter is Leaking gas.
