The master at work! Sandro, you're truly amazing. I'm not a pro, but so much of my process when I detail, I owe to you. You're a fantastic teacher! I know you said you do detailing classes, but the truth is, every video you produce IS a detailing class. Not to mention such a relaxing experience. Thank you again!

Hey Sandro, I love your videos! And this one was not an exception) Before I will write something I want to state - I will never-ever try to teach you something connected to your job, as my skills were raised thanks to your videos and all I can write it is from my own experience only and in my climate, weather conditions and circumstances. My two cars were bought new and one of them was a stock unit. I got a luck to have two same stock units to choose from and I have inspected both with appropriate lite to choose the less damaged one. Yes, correct - they all are damaged by plastic covers removal, washes, etc. So I have took the less damaged. Another car had some deeper scratches which will push me to remove plenty of paint to level them down. And I have spent hard several days to make everything perfect (in my eyes at least) with wheels off coating, pipes, windows, engine bay, interior and even interior carpet with Carpro CQuartz Fabric Coat. By the way I have coated all glass/windows except the windscreen of course by CQuartz UK 3.0 and I was absolutely happy how they behave. I hate to open windows and trying to avoid this as much as I can, so maybe this helps me to avoid scratches on the coating itself. I have not polished or paint corrected this car during 5,5 years now and making deep cleaning by washing and decontaminating approx. two times per year with further coating by CQuartz Lite and the car is looks great and many people who are not great in detailing are making compliments: “It looks like new”. Another car was not stock and was ordered but I got a luck and was in even better shape than the stock unit. There were light swirls here and there but nothing to be worried about. The procedure was approx. the same as for the first one with wheels removed plus interior and frunk (front truck because it’s a Tesla😊). Maintaining is the same - deep wash and decontamination approx. two times a year or three sometimes and coating with CQuartz Lite. After three years I can see some minor swirls after all the maintenance washes but not that bad still to be polished. So all this is made for my cars just learning from you Sandro and thanks to your channel. Yes, I am spending some money for high quality products to maintain and protect my vehicles but at the end this is saving so much time and money. Another thing is a pleasure to do it myself and to have compliments and questions from the people who know how old my cars are and they are quite a high mileage as daily drivers. I feel a very big gratitude to your channel and to you in person Sandro, please continue to teach All of us in the way you’re doing and I am sure we All are very thankful. Love the way you are adding your vids and love the music you are laying over. Cheers from snowy Sweden! P.S: here in Sweden we normally have summer and winter tires, so both my cars has 8 rims each to take care of😊

Truly horrific state of new cars these days. It was terrible before, but now it's really bad. As far as coatings go I am now using the latest generation of graphene coatings from Artdeshine. No problems and panic with flashtime and they are all single layer products which saves me ton of time. I love how they perform - especially with waterspots and the fact they can be applied and bond from plastic to metal, chrome - no problem. Slick as hell too - especially thier NGC V3 :) Great work BTW.

Sandro, an absolute blessing to the car detailing industry. Appreciate every single video of yours mate and your advice! Thank you! do you ever find IPA wipe downs become 'grippy' on paint prior to polishing (even after also)? is there a way to combat this?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks appreciate that mate. Yes some paints can certainly become more sticky to wipe or work on that others and IPA can worsen that. Sometime further diluting your IPA can help or even switching to a primer polish can solve the issue, another thing is trying some different towels and even spraying a little water into your towels prior to wiping.

Beautiful to look at, adore the car and an absolute joy to watch! I've got an i20N and it was truly a mess when I got it after 4 months lost in another car yard holding area, but I'd asked for no washing by my dealer, but the environmental damage had been done. Boy oh boy, the fiddly bits on these cars are tough to clean😥. I too am upset with Hyundai paint quality 😭. Thank you for a brilliant video 👏👏👏😊😊😊

Polishing my Hyundai Veloster N was a PITA. Especially the plastic painted parts. And my god the black plastic painted bits like the mirrors and wing were absolutely impossible to work with. I tried like 6 different compounds and 5 different pads and could not take out any swirls whatsoever. I just gave up and went with a filler polish and finishing pad, then double coated with ceramic. Gyeon Pure Evo with Gyeon Can Coat Evo on top. Incredible gloss.

Another fantastic result. I have gained a new found respect for your videos knowing how much work can go into a full detail and to also bring us all this footage on top of what you already do is just simply amazing. I had a question for you about polishing painted plastic as I recently burned through a lower trim piece on the bottom of a car. I used a mini DA polisher with a wool pad and heavy cut compound at first, not achieving any significant scratch removal even with multiple passes. So I put on a rotary with the same pad and compound and burned through rather quickly. Obviously the plastic just heats up way quicker than the metal panels I did this on where I didn't have any issue. So what is the protocol you would recommend for painted and clear coated plastic pieces on the vehicle, if you achieve unsatisfactory defect removal with an already aggressive combination, without having to use a rotary? Would it be to wet-sand them and then remove the sanding marks? That's about all I can think of but I haven't done much wet sanding to really know. Sorry to be so long winded and I hope that all made sense. Much love.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks and I think that’s an important common situation many detailers face. Firstly is managing expectations - lower side skirts get trashed as shoes rub along them getting in and out of the car, also because dirt/grime is heavy there causing increased washing swirls and even road particle/wheel kick back, so they are one of if not the most badly weathered trims on a vehicle. As such it’s realistically impossible to correct them to the same level of the rest of the paint/trims as paint/clear is limited and there’s a good change on older cars they’ve already been heavily corrected. So just be upfront about explaining that you can certainly clear the lighter to moderate defects, but the heavier scratches/scuffs aren’t safe to remove. When those trims have really sharp and aggressive body lines, I try to use much smaller DA or rotary machines and pads - 1” 2” and 3” at most - it dose take longer but you can largely avoid compounding right on the body lines where burns tend to happen and work ether side of those peaks. As you mentioned painted plastic/fibre substrates are harder to correct, so additionally when sanding they are also harder to refine and remove the sanding marks which makes sanding also an increasingly risky method there and I don’t think it solves the problem as aggressive compounding is needed once again to refine the finish. Heat is a major issue on those plastics, so the best practice is after polishing one area, go do another area while it cools down completely and then you can go back and polish more as needed. I find with plastic bumpers, skirts and front/rear splitters, patience and light multiple correction sets is the way to go as well as accepting you many need to compromise more on the defect removal percentage - yes it’s annoying, time consuming and frustrating but unfortunately there’s not always a clear path to solving the issue where everything is perfectly as we’d like it to be. Hope that helps mate!

Great to hear that mate, and I certainly corrected cars and applied CQUK as a mobile detailer so I think it’s definitely a great way to further a mobile detailing business. Having access to a customers garage or carport helps, but otherwise we just do the best we can with the open elements, starting as early as possible to beat the sun and moving the car around to find sone shade where possible.

Friends at dealerships say, that they need to do these so called "detailing" on new cars because those persons in the background (not those who do the actual job) want the buyer to be disappointed in a way, so few people would buy new cars thus they can reduce the amount of cars manufactured in a year. Which would lead us indirectly to renting cars rather than owning them, which is the ultimate goal as we know. "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy."

Also which one would you recommend, the nv evo hybrid coating, the quartz sic coating. cq quartz uk , or gyeon pure? Or gtechniq light?for a black ford.Thanks
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
Yes I’ll use the same paint coating on the clear plastic lights generally. If it’s your first coating or you’re a little newer to them, CQUK 3.0 would be my recommendation as apart from being a solid performer it’s also super easy and almost fail safe to apply. As a single layer coating, and if you’ve applied a few in the past Nova Evo is still and amazing coating I highly recommend.

Did the colour of the car make it difficult to do the job? As i viewed the video the colour seems to mask some of the issue you mentioned. Great Job in doing wonderful finish to the car. Shame much of the new cars today are now suffering these issues.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

I don’t the base grey colour made it any more difficult to detail, but maybe a little harder to capture the results on camera. The paint/clear itself was a little difficult to correct as it seemed to be both a little on the harder side yet still sensitive - which certainly isn’t ideal from a paint correction perspective. Thanks mate appreciate it!

How do you find the new NV Finesse formula with cut of 7/10 (vs 5/10) and polish of 8/10 (vs 10/10)?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

I don’t think the formula has changed, I think they either changed the ratings or perhaps made an error on the label. It should really be 5/10 cut and 10/10 finish.

Thanks mate and I’ll sometimes wrap the micro suede cloth around a finger on my glove / use a small brush (I think I showed that on the Audi R8 vlog) other times I’ll partially coat where I have access (that’s what I did here)- it’s really a case by case scenario depending on the trim and the job itself.

Thanks and I tried to cover that in the video, (you may have missed it) but basically it’s up to you on how fussy you wish to be and although a coating will tend to bond better to a corrected new car it’s not essential to always polish before hand.

Hey Sandro. Can you safely add anything to existing car washes to make them less than ph7 to compliment an alkaline snow foam?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
I’m sure you could alter their chemistry to higher alkaline levels on the ph scale but I’ve honestly not investigated that. It’s also important to note that the ph level is just one part of how any product performs, and although I do refer to specific ph, acid and alkaline leaning chemicals I don’t think it’s just where they sit on that scale that determines how they perform, it’s also everything else that’s in their formulations.

Hey mate wanted to get an honest idea about the kranzle pressure washer which do you have and is it better to get the unit with wheels or the other one they put in a platform in garage I work from my garage so which model and one do you use and would recommend and are they reliable?

I have both the KHD7 122TS at home (floor unit) and the K2160TST at the shop (wheel rolling unit). The KHD7 is a fantastic unit for me at home I’ve attached it to a cart and also use it around my property for window and path cleaning but for work I do prefer the more powerful K2160TST though I probably wouldn’t care if it was a wheeled unit or not, it’s more about the extra flow rate and psi that makes it a more efficient unit in a pro environment.

Hey Sandro, hope everything's alright! Let me ask you something, never had this "problem" before, but I have polished/coated an Chevy SUV (Black) and this one car opted for a mainetence wash every 15 days, still, everytime it comes in I have to "decon" wash it with iron remover etc... is there any good way to "prevent" this from happening? Even with the ceramic coating the iron contamination is "stucking" to its paint.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

That’s really strange having fallout bond so quickly- I imagine the car must be parked in an area filled with it for that to happen within two weeks. I can’t say I’ve had that issue to that level, but I guess I may try using a slick top coat after each maintenance (Nv Lustre, Sonax Ceramic Detailer) wash or two to help the particles come off a little easier. The only other thing I can suggest is weekly washes - not giving the fallout that extra week to bond.

Hi Sandro. Not asking how much, but asking how you charge and create profit for yourself. Obviously you have to know hourly costs, but do you charge by the hour or give a set price before you start? I recently charged hourly for a person that had several cars and it was the best experience ever because I finally felt like I was getting paid fairly for the work I put in. I’d say a majority of the time when you give a set price you always end up spending more time than you originally thought, and end up not getting paid properly for what you put into it. I took a break from the business for a corporate job, and ended up leaving and falling back in my detailing business and if I can figure this problem out I may try to make a career out of it.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
I have charged hourly in the past but generally give a set price based on how many hours I predict to spend - many times that will be a price range to give me some flexibility. I think it’s great to charge by the hour - fair on both sides generally- but I’ve also found that most clients still want an estimate rather than an open ended cost at the end that may upset them if you end up spending way more time then they thought they’d be charged for. I think which ever way you go, good communication is the key factor so both parties understand what they agreement and potential cost may be.
@CameronRDavis
@CameronRDavis 2 жыл бұрын

Sandro thank you so much for this what a fantastic job it looks incredible. I want to learn how to ceramic coat a car from scratch Sandro. I want to know what kinds of pads to use and compounds I need someone to show me on my own vehicle. I'm very worried about tackling the job of doing my own car on my own in fear I might stuff it up. I live in Adelaide Sandro do you know of any courses I can do and recommend? I love your videos I want to do what you are doing but afraid of my own ability without proper guidance and teaching. For me it's a hands on thing someone to physically show me how to do it the different pressures to apply to the machines so I don't take too much clear coat off stuff like that. That's what I am afraid of doing taking too much off and stuffing it right up. Thank you Sandro Happy New Year to you and your family and to all your subscribers. Jeremy Downunder
