I used wheat way back in the late 60's prepared it by soaking overnight with boiling water in a thermos flask. remember it doubles in size so don't put too much in the flask. Had some great days fishing Roach on wheat.

Interesting. Fermentation will also release the sugars in the wheat and possibly make the bait a bit sweeter - if not put it under an airlock and let it bubble away for a few weeks.

Super movie. If you want a "premium" version of wheat, prepare it with hemp. It's simple, you cook wheat and hemp in a 5:1 ratio for 5 minutes, then pour it into a glass thermos and leave it for half a day. Wheat prepared in this way has a dark green color and an intense smell and taste of hemp. When fishing with a Waggler or Feeder, I recommend covering the fishing area with separately cooked hemp. This combination causes cyprinids to go crazy and feed like crazy. Good luck and greetings from Poland.
@FishingwithDen
@FishingwithDen 8 ай бұрын
That sounds like a great idea. I'll definitely try it in the next few weeks. I like the fact that you can mix the two baits together, but with the wheat smelling of hemp. Thanks you. I hope its not too cold in Poland at the moment.

@@azymut8819 Yes. I remember when I lived in the UK, it was so cold that everything froze over at this time of year. We have the opposite problem here. It's getting up to around 38 degrees celcius at the moment, so it can be too hot to go fishing. 😁😁👍👍

@@azymut8819 I used to love fishing the Pellet Waggler, but unfortunately, it does not work over here. I know it sounds strange to anglers in the UK and Europe, but we have all tried to get the fish to come up in the water and nothing happens. I think it is because they are all wild fish who never see an anglers bait. It is possible to get them off the bottom a little, but in 8 to 10 feet of water, that's not as much as we would like.😁😁

@@FishingwithDen Mainly maggots, caster and Dendrobena worms are fished here. It is mostly fished with the feeder rod. You hardly see an angler fishing with a pole rod or a match rod. Younger people today don't even know wheat as bait. In the evening I put a handful of wheat with sugar or attractant in a thermos with boiling water. In the morning it's nice and puffy and ready to go fishing. I really appreciate the bait in the spring.

I believe hemp swells to about 2:1 in weight as well. Can just about get it for £1.60/kg dry or £0.80/kg prepared here, best rate. I’ve still got a massive sack of wheat bran to get rid of that I bought from your previous bran ideas that I half ass tried but didn’t continue with 😄 Really need a bait boat for it ideally, get tons of it out there easier

Wheat is another great small particle which I always use in my particle mix along with hemp, groats, rape seed etc. Just a point on your previous video on beans splitting, just take some out when you bring them to the boil and use these as hook baits as they'll be a lot firmer and shouldn't split and let the rest simmer for five(ish) minutes to use as loose feed. Tight lines
@FishingwithDen
@FishingwithDen Жыл бұрын
Thanks Clive. I have to admit that I was using the beans straight from the tin mate. If I can't get them to stop splitting, I'll get some raw beans and follow your advice.👍👍

I prepare small batches of hemp as follows: wash the hemp and let it drain, just to be wet on the surface, put it in a vacuum bag (the ones used for sous vide that can whitstand boiling) add favouring sometimes ( just some sugar and a drop of vanilla, a tablespoon of honey, pepper, curcuma, anise powder). Then vacuum the bag and put it in the microwave at around 600w until it puffs up. Don't over do it because will explode. Let it go back to a deflated state and repeat the process until the hemp cracks. It keeps weeks at room temperature and is ready to use. Maybe will work with grains also. Definitely will try.
@FishingwithDen

I must give this a go for my Hemp. I have a batch which will not split no matter what I do to it, so I have been using it as Crushed Hemp using my Coffee Grinder.
@loursb
@loursb Жыл бұрын
@@FishingwithDen I had that kid of hemp, soaked it for one day then drained but the microwave process was repeated at least 15 times until I had results (more water, quicker inflation of the bag). The best thing about this method is that more flavour stays in the seeds and is not washed in the boiling water. I had some advice from an old fisherman to add some sodium bicarbonate to the mix but I have not tried it, I think is not suited for a sealed boiling.
@FishingwithDen
