I love hearing traditions from other parts of the world. I may make it a tradition to make a warm tea for Christmas. Looks like I'll get enough to dehydrate some myself but half of them ir more aren't as big as yours. Awesome on your vinegar. Thanks

Dan, seed questions… 1) are the seeds from fresh calyx pods as viable as the seeds from pods left on the plant to dry out at the end of the season? And 2) pods that have been boiled for the pectin, I assume, are no longer viable, right?
@Danfoodforest2 жыл бұрын
Hey Art .. I never let the seeds dry on the plant because of pests and powdery mildew( cooler temperatures); instead, I selectively harvest the most mature calyxes to save seeds. 2. Once boil it's no longer viable Thanks for watching .. Have a great week

Question bro is it safe to consume all of the red part. ? For juice etc. Because here in Grenada ppl normally cut the top off with the lil spikes n get rid of it. But my mind n body always told me theyre wasting it. So would like to know

Everything is perfectly fine to make tea/drinks or even add to a salad

Do they have to be so dry they crumble after you dehydrate them or can they be a little pliable kinda like a raisin? I ask because I worry that if there is a little moisture they will mold in my storage jar. I'm in zone 9a so just a little north of you and I have over a hundred Sorrell/Rosella plants and they are producing like mad right now, I can barely keep up lol
@Danfoodforest2 ай бұрын
Yes .. they must be fully dried for long term storage , I dry mines in the dehydrator and store for later use You can always make the drink and jam
