If you leave the knife tip touching the surface of the cutting board, and slide the carrot along under it as you chop down there will be much less noise. This is the best Canning video I have seen so far. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the lesson! Great video! I just canned my first carrots! I wanted to suggest that you curl your fingers to avoid cutting them off! :) I had to hold my breath while you cut! I had an accidental win while cutting my carrots. I had covered my cutting board with a thick, clean kitchen towel because I had to use it to fill my jars. I found I needed to cut more carrots, so cut them right on the towel. OMG! Best idea ever! The carrots didn"t roll or jump away as I cut them. Plus they were so stable that I could slice 4 carrots at once, without holding the carrots with one hand. That put my second hand ON TOP of the knife for added control. And, best of all, you can't cut your fingers off if your other hand is on top of the knife!

Ok….I’m feeling pretty good here….I did everything you did except I put my pint jars filled with half water in my warm canner and just emptied as I went in for a jar to fill. I filled my jars with hot water and a cup of orange juice, minus the salt. Wow….I’m feeling really good! I did 6 pints yesterday with one fail….the lid was fine so don’t know what happened to that guy? But happy I got 5 successes! I’ll reprocess that one in time, or just eat them for dinner one night. Thank you for your tutorial. It’s very clear for a new canner like me…..❤️👍😄

Yours is one of the best videos for the beginner canner. Thank you so much! I’ve already ruined 10 lbs of organic carrots and 13 lbs of potatoes. I’m just so scared of the new canner nicknamed TNT. I’m at 1,100 ft so I use the 15 lb weigh however it will not get to the 15 lbs on the gauge. It’s at 14. If I turn up the heat the weight jiggles constantly. Hence the food was discarded. There is poping noises and steam coming out of the lid on the side. Man is this a scary thing. Any thoughts on the issue with the 15 lbs on the gauge? The manual states +/-2 lbs is ok. I guess it’s another call the their hotline. I have the All American.921. Also the venting processes is baffling ( this might be rocket science lol) a piece of dark paper behind it steam would make it easier to see. I’m having trouble getting the full on steam going. Ugh! Thanks
@rosaloving91064 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you’re using all American canner and your lid is not on level. I had a lot of problem with that, and that’s why there’s steam coming out from the edge of lid and you don’t get to pressure you want. I push down on lid to level before putting nuts on, and I put all nuts up before tightening to make sure lid is level. Haven’t had problem since. Everyone I know says lid is tricky to level.

I Hope you are still monitoring this video. I was told that you cant use All American canners on glass top stoves. Did you have any issues with your glass top stove?
@Prepper5564 жыл бұрын
None whatsoever. I have a GE pro glass cook top and it specifically says its designed to be able to use canners on it, so I would advise caution if your cooktop doesn't specify if it's capable of doing so
@kenrichardson17064 жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately mine is not compatible. I found out after i purchased the canner. I am exploring propane burner as an option
@timchaffin56634 жыл бұрын
@@kenrichardson1706 My guess is that a disclaimer to not use on glass is so someone can't claim the pressure canner cracked the glass. If temperature of canner and glass are equal and the canner isn't dropped on the glass - I personally would do it on glass.
@rosaloving91064 жыл бұрын
I have all American 915 and use on Len more elite glass top with no problem. I call Mfg prior and they said ok. Just don’t slide canner on stove.

Does this method of canning make the carrots really soft? I prefer carrots with some crunch.

Since your carrots are room temperature, instead of heating water, heating jars and canner, can’t you just cold pack with room temp water? Would save lots of work.
