How to pressure test a refrigerator sealed system using nitrogen

Would it be possible to do this with carbon dioxide? I have 2 fridges that stopped cooling at the bar I work at, we don't have nitrogen but of course we do have a co2 tank for the beer kegs.

It would be possible but not recommended. CO2 can carry moisture with it which will get introduced into the system and could cause problems.

If you see this, can you please answer a question? I recently had someone diagnose my refrigerator, and he tested the refrigerant pressure. My refrigerator is fine, it turned out to be my dehumidifier leaking refrigerant. However, ever since the repair person came, my refrigerator now kicks out this perfume-like smell every 2 minutes, whether it's on or off, although it does lessen a bit when it's off. The longer it's on, the stronger it gets. It does NOT smell like refrigerant, which I know has a faint ethereal smell. This smells like strong perfume. Could he have had something on his hands or his equipment that did this? and how do I fix it? Thank you!

The only suggestion I have is to give it time. The refrigerator itself cannot create this smell. Maybe some type of air freshener was placed around or behind the unit? What ever the case may be, given enough time, it will go away on its own.

@@fredsapplianceacademy Too many people have too many different answers. It will not go away on its own. Finally I found out that it's the oils from the compressor that atomize when the refrigerant starts leaking that causes the smell. I just put myself through so many exhaustion because of hiring someone to come say it was fine when it was not and trying everything to get this intermitten smell out of here, to finally pushing it outside my apartment and that was the only thing that got the smell out. Too many people say you won't smell it when refrigerant is leaking and it's just not true. I even paid someone to test it, and I've just been misled all over the place. I'm still exhausted and behind with work because I had to figure it out. Breathing in that scent every 2 minutes for that many days was torture. It's shocking how many people say so many different things. All I know is that the scent was definitely coming from my refrigerator, it was intermittent, and started out faint and grew stronger over weeks. It would have never gone away on its own and no one ever comes into my apartment but me to have put an air freshener behind it. There is something seriously wrong with that refrigerator and I'm so glad it's out of here by now. Thank you for your response though.

@@Katyayanibetha If there is any leak , that smell comes from mixture refrigerant & oil and mechanical components of compressor. In this case your refrigerator will be out of work.

@@constantean1 Nope, incorrect. It was confirmed my refrigerator had a leak, and it had not stopped working yet. The type of refrigerant it had in it is described in chemical data sheets as having a faint smell. I wish I could have been provided the right information for the people who are supposed to know, as I wouldn't have suffered so many weeks trying to figure out where the intermittent smell was coming from. I originally thought it was my refrigerator. Everyone kept saying what you are saying here, I tried everything to get rid of the smell, it kept getting worse - and then I pushed my refrigerator outside for my landlords to have an expert to deal with, so it was confirmed to be faulty and replaced. The smell went away just as soon as my refrigerator was out of my home. It was still in full working order at that time, as well. It just emitted a scent of perfume combined with exhaust fumes every 2 - 3 minutes constantly. It was worse than Chinese Water Torture.
