@@THERUSTEDGARDEN thought I'd give an update. several days ago I had decided to fluff the peat because it was very wet and compacted and put the domes back on. Yesterday, after watching your video and getting home, I removed the domes to find many more seedlings breaking through which was exciting. I went ahead and left the domes off and this morning saw more beginning to break through! I've been turning on the grow light while I'm at work. I still have several with little white fungus spots or spider web like strands. It would probably do well to separate those from the healthy ones and treat them with the peroxide solution, yes? Things appear to be turning around quickly with is a big relief!

So, I’ve got a bunch of seeds starts thanks to inspiration like yourself. However I’ve got a lot of this white fuzz all over the place. I did the cinnamon and I did the sun trick, but this week it’s been really wet and rainy and cold outside. So haven’t been able to take them out. I tried this hydrogen peroxide and water mix. How often should I do this? I still see some of the fungus. It seems to have damaged some of the starts, but they are still alive, so I hope they make it. For plants that don’t react well to this mix, what else can I do to get rid of the fungus? I would hate to lose all of my seedlings.
@THERUSTEDGARDEN3 жыл бұрын
I would just spot spray the fungus now with h202. Did the fuzz damage them or the h202? If was the spray go from a 4:1 ratio to a 5:1 ratio. Let the soil surface dry use the sun when you can.
@ndrunningriver3 жыл бұрын
@@THERUSTEDGARDEN thank you! The h202 damaged a few, just a little. I tried to direct more into the soil, and only test a few plants. Okay, I will continue to let the surface dry minus the h202 5:1 on the fungus. As soon as the sun peeks through, I’ll keep doing that too. Thanks again!

Hi Gary. Interesting. Every plant I am growing - a ton - are in plastic trays except for this one tray in those peat square things. They have impatiens. None have come up. Now I have that white fungus on them. Wondering if it is the peat trays or the fact that the impatiens are taking so long to sprout than any of the other plants and this the fungus formed. Or the fungus formed and then killed the plants. I have never grown impatiens before. I am growing two other types of flowers in those peat things and they are doing fine.. no fungus. They have sprouted, though. Hmm.... I am thinking impatiens are tricky. I am trying the regular kind and the New Guinea. I will try your peroxide suggestion. Thanks.

I have enough question. When bottom water, do you still dump the water out after 20-30 minutes later. I noticed all the individual containers are not equally water. So is it better to just leave a little water at the bottom of the the trays

Question! The plant is battling damping off in late seedling stage. Is it too late to use cinnamon?

One other fellow puts his potting mix in boiling water. That to me seems a bit excessive not to mention wasteful of energy. You think this is unnecessary?

I actually just saturate starting mix with boiling water. Dump it on to hydrate the mix. It does make a huge difference in reducing fungus gnats. I have lots of videos on it. isit my blog, The Rusted Garden Journal, for the written DIY recipes and more garden information: therustedgarden.blogspot.com My new Podcast: The Rusted Garden Homestead https:bit.ly/443SSGL Thanks...
