These two women say they suffer from sleep paralysis and frequently have frightening experiences in the middle of the night. The condition can feel like something out of a horror movie, so much so, it's even been featured on the Netflix horror series, "The Haunting of Hill House." Sleep paralysis has popped up in reality television, as well. Kendall Jenner reveals she suffers from it too. InsideEdition.com's Leigh Scheps ( / leightvreporter ) has more. #InsideEdition

I've been dealing with sleep paralysis for the last 3 years and here is what works for me: I get it more when I SUPER tired, like maybe I pulled an all nighter the night before. So I make sure I get a normal amount of sleep each day. I never take medicine that makes me drowsy, because they have resulted in me getting sleep paralysis. Lastly, whenever I do get sleep paralysis I simply relax and go back to sleep. The key is not to panic, because that just keeps your mind racing and can lead to dreams/hallucinations while you're in that state. (not fun)

I’ve gotten sleep paralysis a couple of times. One time I woke up and from the corner of my eye I saw a big tall shadow person in the corner of my room. He never moved, he just stood there looking at me. I knew I was hallucinating from sleep paralysis so I just decided to close my eyes and relax until I was finally able to get up. Once I did, the hallucination went away 😅 The scariest thing I’ve seen and heard though was multiple shadow people standing around my bed looking at me and talking amongst themselves. It was horrifying because they spoke a non human language. This hallucination took longer to go away, as I was freaked out.

First time it occurred, very awful! No one to talk about it with, and heard it was paranormal, you'd feel something on your chest, seeing and hearing voices... Turned out it's just your brain awakes before your body, and you lay there struggling to move, was told to relax, calm down, slowly move parts of your body, but for me what does it .. I tense up and kinda yell out *YAAAAAAH!* until I move. Then noticed I was on my back. And voices I heard.. were my own. But I swear I heard a low laugh in my ear.

Same here! I was in high school. I remember I couldn’t move. I felt my entire head moving from side to side really fast. When I got out of it, I went to my sisters bed, told her about it. I laid down with her and told her not to let me fall asleep. I knocked out once the sun came up. 10 years later, I always try not to still on my back, I’ll sleep on my sides.

I've had sleep paralysis and i knew what it was at the time. It was really scary, I could go as far as saying that it was the scariest moment in my life. I was dreaming about something random when suddenly something happened. Again, I don't exactly remember what it was I think I tripped or something and my eyes just popped open and I was awake. I couldn't move or speak and i felt like I was shaking while I also felt really hot. And then a saw it. A DARK FIGURE coming in the door and moving towards me. I was so scared and confused and I didn't know what was going on so I just closed my eyes and relaxed. It all went away. After I woke up I realized what had just happened and I actually thought it was really cool. Few months later I was able to lucid dream. Sleep is awsome.

@@revalisgale7281 I actually learned to get get out of it when I started practicing lucid dreaming. I would slip into lucid dreaming easily enough, but I'd get _so excited_ that I manged to get there that I woke myself up. I learned to stay calm and not wake myself up, and getting out of the sleep paralysis (though I really only manage to do about half the time, but still) worked in a similar. When you panic, you lose control- it's understandable that not being able to move (and possibly having hallucinations, which I did, at first) scares the hell out of you. But staying calm is pretty key to snapping out of it. I really recommend practicing lucid dreaming for people that regularly experience sleep paralysis or frequent terrible nightmares.

I covered myself entirely along with my head in the blanket as it was cold outside and in the middle of the night, I woke up and started to suffocate. All i wanted to do is scream and wake my mom who was sleeping beside me and remove the blanket but I couldn't move. I then shunned my eyes and tried screaming until i was awake. (not fun)

I’ve had sleep paralysis episodes. One of mine I recount it was a hot summer night, 80 degrees in my room, I had a dream late at night that I accidentally fell into a pool. But when I tried to swim up, I kept falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of the pool, but all of the sudden I could breath and then everything went black for a second and then my eyes were open. My vision was extremely fuzzy, and I couldn’t move or feel any part of my body. It was like I was floating and my body was on fire because it was so hot. I tried to call and scream for help from my parents or anyone, but nothing would come out but a strange, eerie echo-ey voice that I’m sure wasn’t even real. I could feel the unbearable heat of how hot I was in the hot room, but couldn’t move. I tried hard to wake up for who knows how long when finally, I shot up our bed soaked in sweat and tears and hyperventilating on a warm sunny beautiful morning. This happened 4 years ago but I remember it like it happened yesterday. I use an alarm clock now so I can wake up easier.

It may have been years ago but I still remember being terrified and running to my parents room straight afterwards. Last night 8/16 was my first time seeing a shadow creature with a big crooked smile stare and coming closer to me until in my nightmare he violently shook my head. Then i woke up but i was still not able to move. I could only feel my hand moving and i control it to go to my face and that's how i actually start to move everything and wake up. Everytime i was closing my eyes that night i tried my best to stay awake.
