I like to do that too. My secondary idea would be to powersaw cut the axel excess 😅 but I prefer not to for if my next wheels are wider on the inside.

Rad, I got offset wheels so the bearings sit all the way to one side and as long as you put them on the right way it entirely covers the nut and bolt. real good call to prevent damage there
