You can also remove the fuse which powers the port which can help
@vytautassl83796 жыл бұрын
Hi, the best way to deal with this problem is to replace the existing OBD2 connector in the car with a completely different one of your choice, to which a thief is not able to connect his programmer and then to make an adapter to that new connector so that you or a service technician could use it to connect the programmer if needed for servicing. Also, for a little bit of fun, you could instead install a different connector in a different place and direct the wires to it. The existing one could be left with wires removed from it. The thieve is going to have some frustration. Or, as an option, after moving all the wires to the new connector, you could connect straight 12V power from the battery to most of the pins in the original OBD and leave it. Then, when the thieve connects his programmer, the programmer will be bricked irreparably. (Sure, you then should keep in mind to warn a service technician not to connect anything to the OBD but to use your supplied adapter). Actually, there are many simple and ingenious ways of preventing this kind of thievery and to poke fun of thieves. Cheers!

My FIST was stolen as well, took the rims and tires and the battery, the tow truck driver did most of the damage, they had to total it.

Recently near me relay transmitters where used to get into peoples cars and if you have keyless start botton they can hold the signal from your key fob.Cheaper way is to wrap car keys in tin foil stops transmitting the signal to the car.

Yeah that's a good thing. Any kind of delay like that will make the thief move on. They probably won't start searching around once their first attempt fails.

I live in texas, they steal trucks like crazy, my Silverado almost got stolen and I caught them in action, they tried removing my ECM and bypassing it with a one of theirs and a different key, think I might need more than just a fake OBD lol

This obd port moving used to work. Now the relay method is being used. Get a proper immobilser fitted. Clifford/Cobra.

Quick release steering wheel 😏😏
@Eonednb6 жыл бұрын
morgan pennie quick release steering wheel won't stop a thief, all you need is a set of mole grips clamped on and you can steer quite easily. Disc lock is way more trickier to get around but then using 1 of them isn't a fix as the thiefs only have to put 2 dolly trolleys under the front wheels a tow it away.
@99morgster6 жыл бұрын
Joker Majesticz Yes true, but it is another defence against the thief’s. Nothing will stop them if they want your car bad enough.

But what if the people selling the dummy ones aren't actually dummy ones and they are just extension cables and they use your address to find your car and then steal it? Make a tracker in the cable using a live from the original port?🌚🌚

@HeliumFreak4 жыл бұрын
You can tell if its an extension or a dummy because the extension has the same amount of wires in both ports and the dummy only has 2 wires in connecting port and like 8 wires in the dummy side

Youve just give away how you keep your motor safe to all the thieves around your local area lol not a very wise move. Where abouts do you live fella? Lol Be aware a disc lock isn't 100% safe either, you've only gotta put 2 dolly trolleys under the front wheels a tow the motor away.

As I’m sure people stealing fiestas would know about the dummy obd port by now so if they go to steal your car n it’s not working they will just pull the dummy obd port and the real one will be behind it if you chose to do what you’ve done? Or is there another way to get a live connection to the dummy port so you can completely hide the real obd port? Hmm

The way i see it personally is if my car is stolen then it’s a case of phoning the insurance and claiming. Yeah it’s a pain in the arse. But not the end of the world. Also not to sound like a knob here but the way i see it is if you live in a bad area then don’t have a nice car, as simple as that really.
@ikebuttle3606 жыл бұрын
Stuart Harper it’s different if you’ve worked on your car so you can’t just buy a new one and have it how it was like most people

Stuart Harper true, where I live no one would look back at a mk6 fiesta, in Harrogate everyone has Range Rovers and Aston’s😂🙄 so I don’t really have to worry as much as some but I do avoid parking on streets when I can
@stuartharper21706 жыл бұрын
Ike Buttle For me as well like if i’m meeting up with a group and getting in someone else’s car i tend to leave my car at asda or a tesco. Somewhere it’s lit up and is 24hrs as well as CCTV incase some selfish bastard decides to steal my shit.
