I think the point of these devices is to be psychological; to make a thief consider if it is worth the time and risk of being caught. I don't think they are meant to be unbeatable, just take as much time and added risk as possible to the criminal.

theres alot of risks that come also from these methods. the last thing you want to be doing is making noises so using a drill or in the alarm ones case the noise that produces they will consider that in the is it worth stealing . then all it would take is judging one wrong (like how tylertube though the 1st one on the wheel was going to be a 2 second job) so i think the psychological factor does play a big part i really think sound factor is important. the one with the alarm one i feel that one also is not being looked at in the right way. its not so much about stopping someone breaking it. but its about alerting and potentially spooking someone whos stealing it which can make them make more mistakes (as you would feel on a time limit) or even abandon the steal. on top of this any attached to the steering wheel may of caused the horn to go off ( in the exsample cars case it has no alarm but if you kept hitting it with a hammer that may of caused the horn to go off again causing noise ) the only time noise may not be much of a factor is if your in the middle of nowhere. if your in a town center or car park or theres houses and such around noise plays a much bigger part

Better ideas are out there for kill switches. For instance there is a device that requires a certain sequence of button presses to start the vehicle. Even heard of one guy that turned his cigarette lighter into a kill switch on his classic car. Just saw a facebook video showing the best way to put on the club... 1) *Put club on backwards with lock facing dashboard so it can't be drilled out 2) Put club across the top of the steering wheel to greatly reduce steering wheel movement in most cars 3) IF able, put the club on the steering wheel with the longest part facing the driver side window glass. Then pull on the club until you hear a final click to snap it tightly into place eliminating any wiggle room. On my car the long end of the club extends to about 1 inch from the driver side window. The steering wheel can't be turned more than a few inches in either direction. Turn it left it hits the door. Turn it right it hits the frame of the car. This seems like the best method. If a criminal has to cut into the steering wheel to get the club off most likely they will move onto an easier car. Best practice is to ALWAYS put the club on with the lock facing away from you.

Cutting the steering wheel on late model cars does create complications for the thief if he wants to fence the entire vehicle intact. Nowadays, many steering wheels house the horn, airbag, heating element, and wires leading to dashboard audio controls. Some cars even have paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel. Note that cutting the steering wheel will disable some of the car's functions, and the wheel would be expensive to replace.

8:22 & 24:36 The Club was the original steering wheel lock back in the 90's. Anyhow, criminals would use a hacksaw to cut the steering wheel in around 30sec and then bend cut parts back sliding the cub off. Anyhow, all of these could work, most criminals don't bring drills, hammers, and saws to steal uses with. Even the easy to break device would help. The idea is to make your vehicle more trouble than its worth. Criminals probably don't want to spend 1-4 minutes trying to disable a steering wheel lock. Now me personally, I use two devices, a steering wheel like and foot brake if I have to park a vehicle outside. Double up on the annoyance.

Any sort of a steering wheel lock needs to be made so that you can't simply cut it off by cutting through the steering wheel
@briangereau788 Жыл бұрын
Not really. A thief is just going to move along to a car that he doesn't need to cut the wheel to steal.

I lived and worked in the bronx when the club came out. That's exactly what thieves did hck through the wheel.
@Arahknid Жыл бұрын
@@briangereau788 That's your only hope is that they don't have a $5 hand saw and decide to move. Otherwise, you're missing a car if you think one of those steering wheel locks is going to be any sort of security.
@briangereau788 Жыл бұрын
@@Arahknid that's why they're theft-deterrents and don't claim to be theft-proof. Any smart thief is going to look for the path of least resistance instead of trying to take an extra step. Unless they really want YOUR car for some reason, they'll usually move on.

Dude, I had one lock exactly like the one on 12:17, and my car was stolen at night, on november. It was no problem AT ALL for thief. I watched on another video how the probably broke it, just using a pipe as a lever for bending the hook to your left, and just in a couple of secods man. You are not a good thief or you are just too worry of not damaging your wheel and car. They don't give a f... they just insert the pipe on the hook and use it as a lever to bend it as strongly as they can. If they weren't able to do it, they will cut the wheel. They don't care about anything. You are being too soft.

Just a reminder to anyone who is looking at these things. Unless the person trying to steal your care is coming at it with a full tool kit, and is a pro. the amount of time that someone would need to take the care is going to be too long for them to even try. A thief want's to get in and gone in less than a minute. Anything longer and the potential thief will move on. TLDR all these things are for making it too time consuming to steal.

First device is actually quite good, given the fact that the main goal is to make life harder for the thiefs. Especially that they won't spend too much time trying to steal one car in particular. Except maybe in Europe where a certain kind of scum in particular steal in broad daylight because they face no consequences.

The first device when a burglar comes and sees it on the Wheel he’s just gonna tear it off by getting your car started and try to break it off by moving the car forward and tearing up your car at the same time.
@nederlander93213 ай бұрын
He used the wrong tool. A large crowbar on the tire leveraging against the prong will bend the wheel lock prong out far enough to remove the wheel lock from the tire. Other KZbin videos have shown this. 15 - 30 seconds.

When i would remove the club in the 90s it was going to a chop shop anyway. Cut the wheel once and you can bend it open enough to remove the club.
