More about this video:
Pricing your print on demand products effectively is important, so that you are making as much profit margin as possible. Pricing too low is not sustainable or valuable for your shop, but pricing too high can also lead to no sales, so there is a middle ground you need to play to figure out what works best for you and your shop.
In this POD pricing masterclass guide, we'll go over understanding your production costs, how to determine your profit margin, what researching the POD market looks like, how to utilize discount methodology, and understanding your seller fees, processing fees, and taxes that are associated with selling print on demand products online (whether that's Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, or something else).

When I put in your code for the expert subscription I am not getting 50% off. 50% off would be $144. It’s charging me $180. I contacted customer service and they said the discount is on the monthly rate NOT the yearly subscription. It ended up being higher than I was expecting but I’ll write it off on my taxes this year. 😢

On Etsy: 20 cents listing fee is added every time a product is sold and renewed automatically. Then there is the 4% processing fee and the 6.5% transaction fee, not forgetting the 0.32% regulatory operating fee…!
@Kittldesign
@Kittldesign 7 ай бұрын
Yes, we just showed on the front end what you need to be prepared for going in. Some of these fees look different depending on where you live. Always refer to Etsy's fees page. For example, my personal processing fee is 3%, not 4%. It would certainly be helpful if there was 1 standard system for all of Etsy, but not as of today.

👉To Clarify Additional Etsy Fees: A processing fee will be added (and change depending on your location), which we've seen between 3-4%, plus a $0.25 - 0.30 cents charge to that percent. In our Shirt example, another $0.26 cents would be deducted from the $4.85, totaling in $4.59 profit. We apologize for excluding that percentage in the ending example, but be aware that the processing charge may not be the same across every seller. Always defer to Etsy's legal fees page for clarification. 😁

You didn't mention factoring in the Kittl subscription price or all of the other tool subscriptions we need (EverBee, Sale Samurai, etc.).
@Kittldesign
@Kittldesign 7 ай бұрын
True, depending on the tools you use, you can factor that into the individual listing price of items, or like I mentioned in the video, figure out how many sales you need to make a month to warrant that price, or alternatively, eat the cost upfront all together and focus solely on making more sales. The conversation is much larger than just a few pieces, as mentioned in the video.

A usual, awesome video! I wonder how to price mugs/totes to compete with the beautiful ones Target has at SUCH low price. This concern always keeps me from launching these type of products. I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Thank you!
@Kittldesign
@Kittldesign Ай бұрын
Typically we suggest mid tier pricing to be competitive with the super successful shops, but not be priced to low to be considered a cheap quality product. This will take some additional market research to figure out what works best pricing wise (along with how much cost is involved with the product you want to sell).

What about bundling two different products. Say you wanted to do a T-shirt and a mug, do they get cheaper shipping, if it’s going to the same address. I never see bundling videos about two different products. The videos, I have seen, always talk about two or more shirts, or two mugs, or whatever. I will be using two different products in my shop, so I was just wondering how that would work. Also, do you have any videos about all over print products, like t-shirts? What I want to do would have a pattern on it, but I also want a big design on the front or back of the shirt, for example. All the videos I see are just showing a pattern, so I wasn’t sure how to do this. I don’t want the large design to be tiled, I just want it on the front or back of the shirt, while a pattern is behind it.

Etsy considers each time you sell an item as a renewal so you definitely have to add that into your price each time it sells, not just the first time. If the shirt never sells, then it would only be the .20 listing fee for that 4 month period as stated. Thanks for the info on pricing!
@Kittldesign

Thanks for the clarification! It is interesting that they don't blatantly state this on their legal fees page under the Listing Fees category, which is what we researched and linked for this video.
@annadesn665

@@Kittldesign if you list your item as "quantity 1" it's $0.20 listing fee. But if you put "quantity 999", each time someone purchases you pay listing fee. I think it should be called "re-listing fee" :D but if you think of it, if it was only $0.20, no matter the quantity, people would find ways to cheat, for example selling out of one design and uploading something else to the same listing, since they have already paid the listing fee.

Thank you for sharing your revenue, it gives hope to the rest of us mortals! One thing I would consider in pricing is how unique your designs & products are. Can a customer buy a similar design on a similar product elsewhere? If you are selling unique designs/products that can’t be bought elsewhere RAISE THOSE PRICES! Boutiques profit margins are 350%! They’re a specially store so they can do that whereas retail is around 115% but the products are more generic, don’t sell yourself short!

Hey there, you can certainly order more items from Kittl print at one time! However you can't integrate Kittl print with a marketplace right now, so you would have to hold onto the stock and then ship to customers yourself if you were to do so.

I’m not sure why they removed my comment. I asked about bundling products. I was wondering how print providers handle bundling of two different types of products, like a shirt and a mug, for example. Do they charge less shipping for two products, or do they still charge full shipping prices on each product? I have seen people talking about bundling two shirts or two mugs, but not two different products. My whole store will depend on two different products. Also, I was asking about how you do all over print products. I wasn’t sure if you have a video showing how to do AOP products. My question is how to add a pattern, as well as a large design, on the front or back of the shirt. The pattern would be all over the shirt, but the large design would only be on the front or back of the shirt, not tiled with the pattern. O This was a great video. I am just getting ready to buy my domain, and open my own store. I was going to do Etsy, but with all the stuff that happens over there, I decided to make my own.
@Kittldesign
@Kittldesign 7 ай бұрын
Hey Molly, great questions. We didn't remove your comment, so not sure what happened there. Bundling is something that we will investigate and do future videos on, but this certainly depends on where you are selling. For example, with Etsy, users will have to add two separate items to their cart and check out the same way as normal. However if you have your own Shopify or SquareSpace store, for example, you could set parameters in place, to provide additional discounts when multiple items are added to the cart, AND/OR adding an additional listing that bundles two or more items together for a sale price. This is some additional work on the front-end, but could yield some great return. Again, great question, and we will look into how to best answer it in a video in the future.

I'm pretty sure thee's an error in your calculations about the listing fee on Etsy...you refer to the $.20 as a "first time listing fee" and say it only has to be paid for the first product sold but that fee is paid for every single item sold unless the customer is purchasing a bundle.
@Kittldesign
@Kittldesign 7 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for the additional clarification, but what I was referencing in that initial 20 cents, is when you first go to list the item, that charges you 20 cents to have that listing on your site - for a 4 month period. Again, right from Etsys fees page.
@nancynally
@nancynally 7 ай бұрын
@@Kittldesign And when you sell the item, it charges you another 20 cents to relist it, even if it hasn't been 4 months since the original listing, and even if you listed an original available quantity available of more than 1. This catches many new sellers by surprise because it''s not very clear in the handbook and fee charts. It comes up regularly in my Etsy seller groups. I wish they'd make it clearer in their documentation.
