I guess you can only add two intermediate waypoints? Thanks for showing me the additional screens. I'm making an MS to OR and back trip in September. I've used ABRP to plan. All I have to do is get to the first Super Charger. I'm hauling two Ebikes on a Rack and I'm guessing 700lbs of people and stuff. I'll be lucky to get 3.2m/kW I think.

Yes, 2 waypoints is the max for now, but you can always take a side trip if you need to using Apple Maps or Google and come back to this.

@@COSolar6419 It's a beautiful drive, we broke off at Idaho falls and headed North Missoula before turning west on I90 for home. Idaho Falls to Butte was a part of that trip that I would like to do again, it was very beautiful. The only sketchy part was the EA station at Dell Mercantile in Dell Montana. Only one of the four chargers was working and it's in the middle of nowhere. I just checked the EA app in it shows all chargers available and all chargers operational.

@@evatrics5902 We lived in eastern Idaho for 20 years. Dell always feels way out there. I’m keeping fingers crossed that the EA station in Green River is all working. It appears to be online today.

Excellent video. I found a similar way of how to plan the charging stops and is using the filter option in the menu. I just selet EA and the system just searches for that specific network. Unfortunately the system only allows you up to two waypoints. it would be great if Hyundai increases it up to 5 or more waypoints in a software update.

Dan, Are we limited to 2 waypoints? I tried to add additional waypoints but add waypoint did not come up. Didn't find anything indicating that there was a limit. Thanks we really enjoy your channel KR San Diego

Yes, at this time we are limited to two waypoints. Maybe that will change, but for me that's really enough. One destination and two charging stops. If we go off script, we usually change the navigation over to CarPlay for the diversion, and then switch back to the onboard Navigation to resume the trip.

Great video! Quick tip: when searching for an EA charging station, you only have to enter in "Electrify (city) and it will find the charging station you're looking for. Save a few typing hits. Also, I notice that once the route has the charging stops added in and you start your trip, nowhere on the screen does it show the distance and/or SOC upon arrival to the charging station. It only displays the total distance for the trip. Am I missing something? Mine is doing the same thing and I'm wondering what I'm missing. Thank you for the info!

It’s best to search with voice commands. I agree, it’s frustrating not to know how far it is real time to the next charging stop. There is a new software update out that I have not installed yet. It adds both the state of charge when you arrive at a charging stop and calculates what SOC that you need to leave the charging stop with. Perhaps it adds time and distance info to the next charging stop.

@@evatrics5902 I've already updated to the latest nav software and it looks good, but I'm confused how to use it. (no surprise) But when you click on "start guidaince' all the info goes away, and it only shows the distance to the final destination, and would hope that it would show the distance to the first charging stop instead, plus all the arrival info goes away. Anyway, when you get yours updated maybe you can do a video on how to use it. Thank you!

Hi …. I just got my ionic 5. Traded in my Tesla…. Some much more comfortable…… how has the reliability been of your car?

We have 34,000 miles. No Issues what so ever. The car has been perfect. Navigation and battery conditioning updates have been added to the car. There has been 3 tire rotations and 1 cabin air filter change. Other than that the car has required zero maintenance. I'm still on the original tires, I'll probably get to 40K before I switch them out.

Hi, Thank you for the video, very informative. While planning the stops for your trip you mentioned you obtained the specific locations for the charging areas from another map software. Could you share the name of that software? And yes hopefully Hyundai will provide an upgrade to make this a bit less time consuming. Keep up the great work!

I obtained the stops from an iPhone app called “A Better Route Planner”, also available for Android phones. You can also program your car using voice commands. Starting this month there is an update that brings battery preconditioning to the AWD 2022’s and is already on most of the 2023’s. Adding the charger stops will start the preconditioning. This will allow the cars to charge at near summer time speeds in the winter.

No, only the onboard navigation shows up in the HUD.

Yes, not yet anyway. One can hope that a future software upgrade will change this. If you think about it they could just contract A Better Route Planner to do in car trip planning, but then you can run that in the car with Apple Car Play, which adds so much more capability to the car.

The software updates several times a year, and it get's better every time. It sounds like you might want to consider a Tesla, if software is the most important thing for you. For me it's not, I prefer a car that has a smooth ride, is super quiet on the road, and has a great fit and finish.

What a bloody convoluted complicated way Hyundai Corp and by extension Kia are doing for route planning with charging stops, just to use the battery pre conditioning, no other reasons to us their nav. Having to use another app to get results that should have been built in the nav in the first place is something I would expect from a software from the early part of this century. Tesla, BMW, Mercedes Rivian and yes even Ford not sure of the Cadillac LYRIQ but I'm sure they do a better job, can't be worst, If Kia programmers are so inept, Wouldn't it be better if the Hyundai Corp just allowed apple or google CarPlay to preconditioning of the battery.

I’m must have missed this comment when you made it. Since you wrote this Hyundai has added the ability to automatically add charging stops to your trip. If you add them, it will automatically precondition your battery before you get there. I actually prefer the Hyundai navigation to all the different ones that I have available from car play. I’m a real estate photographer and go to a couple of different homes that I have never been to every day. I am 100% GPS dependent. I was thrilled on my previous car to have Apple CarPlay give me navigation on my screen. Getting the Ioniq 5 Limited with the Heads Up display and getting turn by turn in the HUD was incentive to learn about how the in car navigation works. There are so many things that it does that Ways, Apple and Google maps don’t do, that I rarely use them. I do use them for short detours enroute just because it easy to leave the current route in the factory Nav for a last minute side trip. I have a video on my channel about the recent update and another about how to filter out chargers that you don’t want to see enroute.

I just wanted to add that I have three apps with in Apple CarPlay that will give me the same basic information for trip planing as the Tesla App. A Better Route Planner, Chargeway And PlugShare; All of which plan my entire trip and show me my stops and how much I arrive with and how much I have to charge to. Two of the use basic data for my make model and year. A Better Route Planner Pro uses an OBDII reader to use the real time consumption as I go. I can use any of these.. I just prefer to use the Onboard Navigation because it shows up in my augmented reality heads up display. I'm not sure how good the Tesla HUD is, or if it shows turn by turn in the display.

I think that it may take a few more software revisions before we get to that, but battery preconditioning is included in the 2023's and is coming as an update to the 2022'2 soon, so I think we should get full route planning in the next few years. If this is important to you, you might want to buy a Tesla. Thanks for watching.
