Best pump overall. Fyi: The pumps i/o relay board does not support actuator valves . The relays are strictly on/off bridges with the exception for the ability to control intellibright color control. The relays don't produce their own power... Actuators require a 3 wire 12volt system. The relays also do not support temp control on the heater just on/off. Facts!

Hi, thanks for the video. Very helpful. I have two questions. 1) can you please provide more info on why you suggested to GFCI instead of normal breaker? 2) on 2nd port on IO board can I connect my wisperflo pump?

Good video. I’ve been a Pentair Dealer/Installer/Repair tech for Over 20 Years, and in the industry for over 40 years. What part about getting in and out of the job do the Harvard guys at Pentair don’t understand. Replumb?!!! No Touch Pad?!!, Piss Poor Wi-Fi . Stick with the VSF. Out of the first 5 VSF pumps I sold when they came out, 3 of them went bad under warranty. I sold single speeds for the next 5 years. It took a good 3-4 years to get the bugs out. I doubt these will be any different.

Been in pool business since 1981 and been solely a Pentair Dealer. What I continue to experience is that Pentair brings out a new product and they rely solely on on their dealer's to work thru the bugs with product which generally takes 3 -4 years. There needs to be more testing before giving new products to dealer's. Also, when they do upgrades or modifications to products, they need to find a means to let dealer's aware of these changes or modifications.

I've installed over 2 thousand pentair VS pumps from the beginning with the VF Intelliflo pumps ..they in good water in my experience are very reliable and last a long time...my VF pump was installed one of the first I've not needed to replace even the shaft seal.

@@TechTails When the first Pentair variable speed pumps came out, they were crap. Very high fail rate. Now, after years of ME having to take time out of my busy day to go find out that the new pump I just installed, crapped out under warranty. Even if Pentair sends a tech out and replaces it, I can’t charge the customer for that hour of my time to go there and verify that it’s a warranty issue. It took years before they got the bugs out, and made the VSF (011056), which is now an extremely reliable pump. They now come out with a pump IF3 (011075) that you can ONLY control with a smart Phone. I foresee lots of issues in the future. People could care less about that as well . They want the pump to turn on in the morning, and turn off in the afternoon. That’s it, the vast majority (I would say 95%) don’t even use the variable speed option. Remember, the only reason we have variable speed pumps, is because the Federal government mandated it.

@@MichaelAngeloMehok That's incorrect. I have the new IF3 pump and it can also be controlled by programming the touchscreen, or with the optional relay board, in addition to a smartphone.

I am replacing the old IntelliFlo 011018 with this IF3. After I install the comm wire between Easy Touch automation panel and this new pump, do I have to register this new pump in the Easy Touch panel or is it automatically running the existing schedule of the old pump?

The 1.5HP IntelliFlo3 VSF can do 110/220. The 3HP is 220. Just an FYI.

Great video. I’m a first time pool owner and can’t figure this out. I changed the schedule times for my pool light and booster pump and those two schedules no longer run, however I can still control both manually via Pentair Home. Any thoughts on what I broke lol?

Check if you didn't accidentally un-highlight the days the schedule is active.

@@ddbear8786 I did. It took a month of different people checking out my equipment. Everyone wanted me to purchase a new controller. Apparently there is an issue with the keypad on the pump.

Why is it when I go and turn on my timer to on, the pump won't come on? It shows yellow (idle). I would like to be able to turn my timer switch to on and have the pump come on. Thank you

Does the Pentair home app have freeze protection setting for the Intelliflow3 pump? I saw that the app displays weather on the top bar.

What if we want to run pool solar? How do I program for the speed to automatically kick up to 85% when the solar activated? Data cable like the older model?

It would be activated by a simple relay contact (4 available) with the optional relay board. Each relay contact is associated with an adjustable program speed setting.

When using an external relay contact (with the optional I/O board) on the IntelliFlo3, it will just override the schedule set in the Home app and then resume on the normal schedule once the relay contact is open/inactive, correct? The manual is not clear on how the app/touchscreen schedule interacts with external relay program settings.

I'm Confused by the question. The external relays are for turing on the salt system and/or heater via the home app. For the most part it is intended for pools that do not have automation systems. I am not sure why anyone would have that level of pump and not have an automation system. We did test the relay funtionality when we beta-sited the pump for Pentair on a pool that didn't have an automation system. The home app in my opinion is poorly written. It is done by a company in India and they have poor response times and I am not sure they truely understand english. It has improved over the years, however I still find anormallies.

This pump Can’t control valves, but can control your pool heater and salt water system or any aux function.

The relay output can control anything that can be controlled by a relay switch (including valves). Although the user manual is unclear on what programming settings are available to have control over these output relays besides speed/flow activation.

I noticed you can’t automate this through Interllicenter? So 2 separate apps? So Spa mode, go to Intellicenter, then jump back to Pentair home app just to make adjustments on the pump?

You can automate it through easy touch so I'm sure you can automate it through intellicenter. Just run a communication wire to it and let the system know what kind of pump it is. Vsf I think you select then set up all your settings in that

I was reading through the comments and there are several replies that have completely incorrect information. I have the new IntelliFlo3 VSP pump and wrote some replies to correct the false info. Very interesting that people just spread misinformation when they don't know something.

Non-Siemens GFI breakers have a well known tendency to trip with Pentair VSP pumps, it's been a longstanding issue. I had this problem with a SquareD Q0 series GFI breaker until I switched to a Siemens GFI breaker to solve it.

Incorrect. It has self priming and detection of loss of prime etc. I have the new IntelliFlo3 pump and have seen this feature working very well.
