This video was *VERY* helpful. Sometimes you're not near your PC and need to program in one or two repeater profiles manually and this is how you do it. Thank you and 73s.

You know how to solve The disappearing offset problem and if so can you make a video on it? For some reason the early radios magically lose their offset. Just programmed both of mine using the chirp software and they were good for about 5 minutes then the offsets disappeared. Thanks!

Yeah. Offset only stays set if you’re in frequency mode and set it *before* saving to a memory location. Set menu options 25, 26, and 27 in that order. Once the frequency is saved to a memory slot, trying to set or change the offset value just gets ignored. Has to be done manually (not using chirp) and prior to saving to a memory slot. If you use chirp, use “split” instead of “-“ or “+” in the “duplex” column, and then input the actual transmit frequency instead of an offset value.

Thanks for uploading this, has definitely helped me understand tone settings. Question, when and why would someone need to use an offset minus or plus setting ? What would be the reason for this

When connecting to a Repeater. They TX and RX on seperate frequencies....that difference is the 'offset'

Do you need to set the Receive CTCSS ? What if you set a receive tone on your Baofeng and the repeater station doesnt require it... Would you not hear anything on the repeater ? thanks

I cant save offset in channel mode. It shows the offset in Chirp though.

what if CT is always showing?

I can set the CTCSS codes, so that I can communicate with another radio, however, if I turn if off and then back on, the codes are gone. I have CHIRP downloaded to my computer, but cannot change the codes there either. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...Clint

why would anyone need to set the offset? why not just go to that frequency
