Have you ever tried to program a Hitec D-Series servo? Were you aware of all of the different parameters you could set as well as just the end points?

Great Video!!! I'm looking to acquire one of these, how would you go about programing when using a Futaba Radio? For example, I have the HFP 10 and when I program center / epa and plug the servo into the receiver the center position changes. I believe the neutral pulse on Futaba is 1530. Your help is appreciated.
@djmoosecom2 жыл бұрын
You have to set your Futaba radio for 1500 center and 900 and 2100 end points. There are not a lot of devices out there that can measure...the Hitec HFP-25 has been the one tool that has been able to over the years...I believe there are newer ones out there. I'm lucky as the Jeti radios have the ability to show you the pulse-widths in real time.

Hi, great video. I’ve programmed my D950TW servos, but they vibrate a lot. I think they are too sensitive. I will adjust it, but the Sensitivity Ratio is greyed out and In adjust it. Any idea why or what to do? Thanks :)

I'm going to look into this. I seem to remember seeing that as well. Try changing the deadband value and maybe that enables the ratio slider.

Since there is no "Write All" button on the D-series user interface like it does on the HSB-series, I'm guessing that the "Save" button will both save the parameters to the servo itself, in addition to saving the parameters file to my computer?
@djmoosecom2 жыл бұрын
Actually, the D-Series servos write each change to the servo as you make it. You only need to hit the "Save" button (when setting up D-Series servos) if you want to save the parameters to a file on your computer.

Are all settings accessible for all types of Hitec servo series? Or do some series like HS not have the ability to change speed or things like that?
@djmoosecom Жыл бұрын
This programmer only allows you to "customize the parameters of Hitec’s Programmable DXXX, HSB-9XXX, HS-7XXX and HS-5XXX Series Servos" -taken from the product page

Does it increase the resolution of the digital servo if I use the DPC-11 to reduce the range (set the L and R endpoints closer to center)? ie is there any difference in resolution between setting the end points with the radio vs setting the with the DPC-11 assuming I'm reducing the factory range?
@djmoosecom Жыл бұрын
The D series servos are 32-bit so their A/D converters have WAY more resolution than most radios. I BELIEVE (not 100% sure) that most radios' resolution is set at max travel for the channel. IF that's the case....then setting the endpoints on a higher resolution servo will keep the most resolution you have available at your fingertips. I'm not an expert on servo resolution, but here's how I think about it. For max resolution, you need to first increase your radio channel to go down to 900µs and up tp 2100µs. (for Hitec Servos) Then you have to figure out the bit-rate of your radio and the servo. You will be limited by the lower one. The Hitec D series servos are 32 bit...so their claiming there are 2^32 distinct positions the servo can be placed in. (4,294,967,296) Keep in mind, I bet that's for full 180degree rotation. My Jeti DS-14 has 12-bit stick resolution. That means there are 4096 distinct positions that the stick can be in and send a different servo position. (and I THINK this is when channels are set to MAX travel. I'm not sure if today's radios dynamically adjust their pulse width AD conversion to your EPA settings. I DOUBT it. I make sure make my radio is sending out 900-2100µs...I never set endpoints in the radio for this reason....but I'm not an electric engineer by trade. These are just my thoughts.

Hi do you know of any reason or setting why, when the d85mg servos are connected through a hobbyeagle a3L gyro they glitch significantly every so often when at rest, and even when gyro is off. If i take out the gyro and go straight to the receiver it does not happen, have tried two different gyro's
@djmoosecom Жыл бұрын
I have very little experience with gyros. This would probably be a good question for Hitec support.

Question: Would lowering the travel speed also reduces the servo's operating torque? I'm wondering because my D485HW servo has Karbonite gears and I want to prevent damaging the gear train (in a crash) by adjusting any settings that may help (besides the Overload Protection).
@djmoosecom2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, but I don't think it would lower the torque.

Can't you do most of this on a decent transmitter? I got a hs-7955tg I like the fact you can control the speed. I ran futaba 3003 standard servos as a kid and these high end servos are abit to fast expo seems to help slow it down. Anyone program one and was it worth messing with? It's neat but idk if I wanna invest in a programmer. What's your guys thought on this programing it worth it? I only have this one hitec servo rest are other brands. From past experience I'm not a huge fan of hitec had a few and think they were abit weaker than the specs claimed and seen a few burn out but that happens sometimes. But anyone use thus what's your thoughts on it?
@djmoosecom Жыл бұрын
Yes you can do most of this with a transmitter. I like programming the servos so if I sell the plane or change transmitters, the new radio needs less work to keep the same throws. I personally like programming the servos because it works with how I think...everyone has their own preferred way.

Did you install this on Windows 10? or was this an apple product? Because trying to install the Hitec drivers is very difficult due to MS security measures. The Driver is unsigned, so MS won't install it. I've installed, reinstalled and read everything I can find on this, no luck. The program itself installs fine, but not the driver. Hitec claims to have a fix, but if that did work, it doesn't work anymore. Hitec says to install a Silabs driver to fix this, but that driver won't install for the same reason.multiple

I have this running on a win10 Pro. I've had no problems. Have you contacted Hitec support directly about this?

@@djmoosecom It's the weekend, so no. No support until 11 am est time. However, I figured it out (just now). I needed to update the SIUSBXp file, I selected the wrong one from the Siliconlabs site. Without the updated SIUSBXp file, it doesn't work at all. Thanks for the reply. Nice instructional video.

@@martyw72 I had the same difficulty with driver installation on a newer laptop with Windows 10. Good to know that you've found a solution. I switched to an older laptop with Windows 7 and it installed the driver automatically.
