... was given a 250 watt solar panel, so purchased a renogy 20 amp controller and 50 ah TimeUsb LiFePO4 battery...to be used as a ham radio power supply for HF. This works well, but the Renogy is a bit noisy on HF, so I just turn it off (the solar panel) when operating. They say the default Li settings are a 'bit hot' and may result in in reduced battery life over time, so the USER settings you offer seem a sensible alternative. Simple, easy to understand and direct to the point without all the yakking about cats or whatever, the other videos are so confusing, and most assume you have the Bluetooth adaptor...Thanks.

I have been looking through manuals for both Renology (I have the charge controller you used here) and LiTime and did not really have all the smarts I needed. Your video filled in the voids! I took the liberty of lowballing (slightly) a couple of the figures I could not find in the manual but I think things should work. Liked! Subscribed!

I love your videos and am new to solar energy. I do own a couple of old power banks but realized that I need to make my own solar battery box for camping because I use 12V appliances and accessories and my power banks don't offer but only one 12V cigarette lighter port. I want to make mine with at least six 12V ports and use a small inverter like a 1000 watt or 1500 have not decided yet as I am mainly interested on 12V power only not as much as A/C. I am thinking of making it a 200ah or 300ah using the mini batteries from redodo or power queen so my question is the 30 amp solar charge controller enough for what I want or should I go with a larger capacity. I'm mainly using it to power 12V fridge/freezer maybe 2 at the same time and 12V fans and 2 cpaps with 12V converters.

If this is for camping then my guess is you're going to be using portable solar panels, correct? A 30A CC can usually handle up to 400w of solar for a 12v setup. Unfortunately, unless you do a power audit I can't really tell you if the 30A charger will be enough to keep up.

@@OffGridBasement Thanks for the reply. I was planning to use the 2 bifacial 220 solar panels. My cpaps run on dc so both consume about 180W for the night my fridge each consume 50W when compressor run and two 12V fans consume about 20W each. So I think the 30amp is enough. Thanks the explanation. My question is, i have 9 pces module of 550w and a 10kwh lithium battery but inverter pv max is 2800w. What should i do to use all 9 PVs?

I would wire them so you get as close to the max voltage as possible, then wire more panels in parallel. Probably wire 3 x 3. Three parallel sets of 3 in series. Your controller will limit the amps, but not the volts. Hope this helps.

thanks i just got a Renogy 20 amp and using li mode with a 200 amph dr house lifep04 and two 100 watt dokio panels . allways seems to be on 100%. but only gives amps and voltage no watts. battery says under 40 lb but closer to 44lb . panels are very light. using on my house boat👍👍 is it better to run panels in series or parell to give controller more voltage says it can handle up to 100 volts input.i have them parlelled now.. only thing i see is less line loss in series?

Exactly. Less line loss is the big reason. Also, when it comes to shade. Parallel is better when one of your panels gets shaded, but the other doesn't. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

My Renogy Rover has a problem, it will sometimes pull the solar panel voltage down from 65V to 18V. When it does this I have to temporarily disconnect the panels and it starts working normal again in MPPT mode. Same thing happens when on a eternal 66v 8@ CV/CC power supply which simulates solar panels in bright sunlight Contacting Renogy is like pulling teeth, there website absolutely sucks! Gave up and replaced it with a working Chinese brand, works perfect, no more solar panel pull down voltage even with a nice 12v load. (using 3- 100@hr lithium batteries)
