None of the many videos for the RCA remote has worked for my Phillips TV, including this video I even rebooted the remote with batteries out, press and hold the number 1 for 10 sec then put the batteries back in a push the power button. At one point I did have it connect just to power on and off but nothing else.

Late eighties, early nineties may not work, but I would still try to perform a code search.

Mr Mark Franks, your video helped us so much. We bought a used RCA TV from Goodwill without a Remote. Bought a RCA Universal Remote, got a Code List from the internet, no code seem to work. But watching your video and the Manual Code Search method. It worked as you explained. We only had to do the Power button sequence of wait 2 to 3 seconds, and by the 3rd time, and the Remote is working. Thank you so much. Best to you.

I bought a $5 remote because I have 2 free tvs. I watched about 5 videos so I wouldn't have to read the micro print on the paper that came with it. Nothing helped. So I stacked 2 pair of reading glasses and using my phone's flashhlight I read the instructions used the first code for my TV brand and BAM worked first try.
