The best way to feel and figure the difference of the two sounds, then (if your language only uses the B sound) try to say a word from ur own language that starts with a B (for example Bak) and replace that B with P sound (Pak) & vice versa. You will sense a huge difference in the word sound. This is how I figured it out.

Great lesson, Hadar! I sometimes forget to aspirate the /P/ so this was a great reminder! :)
@ПавелОдиноков-ъ2у3 жыл бұрын
Check Royal [p]. It is doesn't have aspiration. In Royal English aspiration belongs to vowel, not consonant. So aspiration strength depends on vowel stress. WIth high stress aspiration becomes audible. With lower stress - almost no aspiration.

I wanted to ask you about learning new words in english.What's considered to be better approach:translating the words we learn into our native languages or writing down the defenitions of them in english?(or maybe there is another approach?)I've tried the second approach but i don't know if it's working well.I found myself forgeting some of the definitions completly after couple of months,at the same time though i think this approach has its advantages,for example when it comes to words that might have couple different definitions.
@Muzikman1274 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm not Hadar, but I am an English teacher! To better remember a new word, it is important to *use* the word, not just to try and memorize it. Writing down definitions in English is better than translating, but the *best* way to remember a word is to have the opportunity to use it, in conversation or in writing. Also, examples are REALLY important; definitions are good, but if you also write down some *examples* of the word used in a real sentence, then you will be more likely to remember the word, and how to use it correctly. A good exercise you can do to practice vocabulary, is to write a list of 5-10 words that you've learned (without the definitions next to them). Then, for each word, write or speak some sentence that uses the word (be creative!). Then check and see if you used the word correctly. If you can't remember, it's OK to peek at the definition of the word, just make sure to try it again at a later time until you remember it. Remember, forgetting is a natural part of learning any language! First we learn something, then we often forget it, but then when we are reminded of it a second or third or fourth time, our brain begins to store it more permanently. Keep practicing!

Great work, could you please show us in slow motion how to pronounce 'p' sound when is followed by 'b' sound as in 'top board ', same thing with the 's' followed by the 'th' sound as in 'this thing', thanks in advance 😊
@haiyen14393 жыл бұрын
Dear Coach. Could you please help with the followings. is it right? 1st case: /b/ pronounced in 2 steps step 1: press lips together, vocal cord aspirated, hold the air) step 2: lips part and release the LIGHT air force Ex: band, buy, bird this applies to all cases except for 2nd case below 2nd case: /b/ pronounced only in step 1, no air released. This applies to - /b/ pronounced at end of word ( stand by itself, no connection with another words) Ex: crab, club, - the next (after /b/) is consonants (except for /l/) in same word or connection with another word Ex: absorb, subscribe, submit, submarine but next is /l/==>/b/ pronounced in 2 steps in 1st case Ex: table, incredible, babble Is it right? Thank you so much.

it's not, it exists in spanish and greek and it's very easy to pronounce. it can be only hard to put it together in some words. what is hard about english are the vowels because they have 15 vowels, 21 if we include diphthongs and most languages have only 5 vowels.
