I'm not sure of this. I think I hear you saying tree like t-r(uh) ee - t-ree. Is this the way to say it? Drift sounded like d-rift as d-r(uh)ift

I think if your /r/ is perfect, you can get away with /tʃ/+ r, but otherwise it can sound distorted. Also I think some native speaker use it but many don't. But if it works well for you, don't let me discourage you.
