tip: if you do this every now and then with plants then you should put some peat in a quart jar with lid and put a bit of water in it to soak in then put container away in dark somewhere till you need to mix some up for plants ... it will be moist and mix up when you need it and ready to take in more water when you have plants to water. then you won’t have to deal with excessively dry soil floating away on you.
@CarnivorousPlantsHub

I actually do this! I keep a tub full of my mix and throw some water in it before using it. I had just made new mix and forgot to add the water... Good tip though, it's the best way to do it!

Watched a few of these videos and it occurred to me an easier way of doing this would be to fill up your pot and then using a spoon make a trench down the middle and push the substrate to the sides. Place your cuttings in the trench crossways and then push the substrate from the sides back to cover the ends. OH and maybe put a couple of stones in the bottom to weigh it down. Make sense at all?

Good info. Idea:would it be more preferable to increase the contact point, to put the stems like a bridge? So we put them flat on the moss, the at end of each, we dunk some moss to cover the ends. I hope you get the idea.
@CarnivorousPlantsHub
@CarnivorousPlantsHub 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! That's actually what I try to do. I try to cover up each end with a little bit of peat moss for optimal contact with the substrate. The better the contact (without being completely covered) the better the results.

@CarnivorousPlantsHub
@CarnivorousPlantsHub 3 жыл бұрын
You definitely can! I will do a video at some point propagating/cloing flytraps with leaf cuttings. It's so much easier for me to cut the flower stalk than the actually leaf. Lol. I think that's the reason I tend to clone via flower stalk more!

Can I Just use garden moss for planting in or not? And if not why?
@CarnivorousPlantsHub
@CarnivorousPlantsHub 3 жыл бұрын
I would have to see the packaging for garden moss. I dont trust mosses unless is sphagnum moss from a reputable grower. They could contain things that are hazardous to your plant. It might be fine, just depends on what it is.

Why don’t you just premix the soil and water before potting? By the way, when you do open up your carnivorous plant nursery; you gotta make that little round table of yours part of the nursery’s display. “Where it all began.”
