I have resorted to a hot glue gun filling my drilled drain holes. I put a plastic thimble on my finger for under pot, fill hole and bubble over with hot glue, let it cool, turn over the pot and repeat the step on the bottom. Works great.

This video was exactly what I was looking for. Just got a water propagated Melanochrysum and I wanted to transfer it to leca later, so this was just the video I needed. Thank you! Your videos are so great!

Pretty sure it will work, but you can look into getting sealant (like for sinks and stuff) to seal the hole. It'll be waterproof.

This is super helpful I propagated a alocasia in leca after it suffered root rot in soil i was amazed how fast it rooted within days than I tried to root my standleyana cutting in leca but it started rotting so I switch to sphagnum moss with success but I now realized I put too much water I'm going to try it again
@minimalistcali5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kristina! I’ve never had issues rooting in LECA yet so I hope your standleyana pulls through 🤞🏼

Keep the roots cool as you can. Anywhere from 50-60° Keep the sun off the roots also. That's the basic idea.

Hi! This was very helpful! I have some cuttings in water and may try putting them in Leca. Then I may try some small plants, too. Thank you for sharing!

How much Superthrive do you use for propagation. One drop per cup?

Would you recommend putting the cuttings in water first, then semihydro medium. or right away into the medium? I'm completely new so want to et some insights.

I've been using ph 6.3 and my plants seem happy. Do you think I should lower to 5.5? Cheers!

Is your diluted nutrient water for propagating the same nutrient water you use for your regular semi hydroponics plants? Or is a more diluted nutrient water? This propagating video was a tiny bit confusing to me. Regular water vs nutrient water. LECA vs no LECA. Closed container vs nursery pot. Combinations of all of these 😬

I just switched my monstera from water propagation, to a pot with leca (that had a drainage hole) do I need to have the leca pot sit in a reservoir of water??

Do you have to adjust the plain water PH or is it fine not too when u top off water??

The roots which grow into the water are a different kind of root to those which grow in soil. This is why the soil adapted roots will fall off when a plant is converted to hydroponics. Soil adapted roots need oxygen whereas water adapted roots don't. There is no need to trim the new roots if they grow out of the nursery pot.
@minimalistcali4 жыл бұрын
Kerry Whaal I know that they’ve adapted that’s why I let the roots run wild for some plants and for others I choose to trim because I want to
