What would a shirt look like if is over cured? Also what would the first layer of white look like if it’s cured under the flash before the second pass of ink?

Ink supplier: "320° for 2-3 minutes" Dryer manufacturer: "...temp doesn't matter, just needs 60-90 seconds of heat." Screen Printers: "320° for 10 seconds".

Ink curing with a heat gun is possible.Also temp gun is needed to cure with a heat gun or not?HOW long will it take to cure?
@OhioInkSupply2 жыл бұрын
Not needed but recommended. It will tell you exactly what your temp is for properly curing the ink of your choice. The length of time it will take for the ink to cure varies on the ink itself. You will want to find the curing specs from the manufacturer and cure it to those exact specs. ie: 320° for 10 seconds

@@OhioInkSupply Thanks a lot. But what i mean was is it possible to cure plastisol ink with a heat gun?
@cole14 жыл бұрын
Could I cure a shirt in the oven at home? Thinking plastisol ink on Comfort Colors shirts. Can't afford a flash dryer at the moment, and I'm just starting out!
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
Used to do that when I started. Lol I would advise against it for safety seasoning but any source of heat that gets your surface temp up to 320 would work. Not very efficient however. We offer finance options if that might help.

@@OhioInkSupply Thanks for the advice! For doing 2 sided prints, do you think it would hurt one side to get cured twice? Or can I do both at once?

Hi there! Dilemma.. I cured a shirt at 350 for 15sec two separate times with heat press. Let it hang for a day just for good measure. I washed the shirt today and the ink came out 😭 what can we do to avoid this happening
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
We recommend curing plastisol ink with indirect heat such as a heat gun or conveyor dryer. Direct heat tends to make the ink much more brittle and sub ceptable to washing out

As the vapor comes out, this is a good sign your ink is cured.

Heat Transfer machine is a good option to cure shirts as well

is it possible you can overbake plastisol ink
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
Yes. It will appear less consistent and very brittle.

My flash dryer temperature sometimes hit 390F or 410F. Does that mean I can lower my cure time to maybe 15-20 seconds in those cases? Because I sometime burn the shirts.
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
It's going to vary by ink brand, etc. With our new Fluid Inks - Plastisol EX line we recommend a surface temperature of 250°F for 3 - 5 seconds. You will want to pick up a laser temperature gun.

It seems as if you are flashing way too hot for way too long.

So can you cure ink with a Teflon paper and an iron
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. It makes the ink brittle with direct heat. Off contact heat is the best for the longevity of the print.

Ohio Ink Supply what about with a heat press ?
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
Off contact heat versus direct heat is preferable. It will make the ink less brittle and last longer

(Sometimes) my plastosil ink comes off with strong scratches of my fingernails. What can that be due too. Im curing at 320F for 15+ secs.
@OhioInkSupply4 жыл бұрын
Possibly old ink. Try mixing your ink really well. You want the surface temp of your garment to reach 320. Meaning the temp of your dryer will probably be around 650-700. Hope this helps. If you are doing these things and still having issues, I recommend ordering a quart of our Fluid Plastisol EX ink. It will solve your issues.
@vladpierre26944 жыл бұрын
Seems I've fixed the issues. Though the surface of the ink reaches 320F, doesnt mean the ink below the surface also has (it may be at 300F). I let the surface reach 340F this time for about 20 seconds and it SEEMS so far to have fixed this issue. Hope this helps anyone.

Temp guns are mis reading. That’s only surface temp not the internal temp. Measured next to a donut probe gun was 80 degree hotter
