Those pieces you cut, no no no, most likely will cause premature bearing failure. I would suggest to others to use a dremel with a sanding disc drum, or if that is not available to sand the inner race with sand paper till they fit snuggly. I only say this assuming those are the races that directly couple to the bearings. If not I appologize for missing something. No matter, very informative video and excellent method of showing how to use an alternative bearing set even if it wasn't meant for that exact frame which I believe someone mentioned that already.
@rasmus16002 жыл бұрын
They are the races for the bearings. I'm kinda surprised that it didn't shatter by being cut, since they tend to be hardend. I'd rather find a pipe that fits the races and press/hammer it down, since it's supposed to be a press-fit tolerence.

With some of these bearing cups the inner diameter is too small for this to fit so you might have to sand it out with something like a dremel. I did not know that when I made this video.

Yup they did not work for me at all unfortunately they are to small they just jiggle around in the head tube instead going in snug like yours did

That star nut needs to be set deeper in you tube. Get a socket and smack it down a bit. That’s what smashes everything together to keep things from vibrating. Loosen the crown and headset bolts before tightening the cap
@mountainlion48532 жыл бұрын
Hi endo, I see you retained the original bearing cups and placed the newer ones over them. This is fine as your newer ones are narrower. But for future reference what you will need is a 44mm top and bottom bearing cup set as the headtube is not tapered but straight.

Mt Lion, do u know if its possible to upgrade these bicycle grade headset "components" for, perhaps, the new Sur-ron heavy duty roller bearing headset? Or if that's not the correct size maybe just source everything from McMaster-Carr or elsewhere? I'm assembling a NB Power enduro atm, and think the bicycle grade headset is definitely a weak link, i need to upgrade now.

I tried to follow this tutorial, but my "FSA Orbit MX 1-1/8Inches Threadless MTB Road Headset with Top Cap, Black, NO.20, XTE1504" (amazon) doesn't fit the bearing cups that came with the frame (same frame as ENDOPRYSM). Do you think I need to buy "FSA Orbit Z 1-1/8Inches 44mm Threadless 1-1/8Inches Headset with Top Cap, NO.9M/CUP/CC , XTE1528" (amazon) like you said in your previous post (44mm top and bottom bearing cup)

You might have to grind the opening on the cups to do this, however... They don't just easily fit in. There's about a millimeter of overhang that prevents you from doing this on nero headsets for this frame.

My forks were a lot harder to install….I ended up using a very light fork….but it only had the main bar…I’m not planning on doing a lot of off road running…but it will be Capital if I have to…Im also using 27.5 inch rims….so I needed a shorter front fork. My next issue is I ordered Hydraulic brake calipers…I don’t know if I should keep them or order the brake levers for them. I heard the hydraulic brakes are a lot better….The damn thing is heavy’ so maybe I should keep them’ I’m almost out of budget….I’m lucky I have a 3 pc crank shaft and Derailer….I’m only gonna do the 7speed…because I don’t think you can fit a front derailer on these frames….I wanna keep it a pedal assist. I hade to take the bearing apart, sand down the cup, and use a rubber mallet to get it in….I had to do something cheesy and lube the spacers you get for a gooseneck and make them into bushings….to stabilize the fork, so far so good. I belt sanded the bearing cups, and polished and lubed the homemade fork stabilizers. Turns extremely well, and no play or wobble.

Bought this exact part, followed video 1:1 on instructions. Too piece will never fit in the hole flush, and still wobbles when I brake lol.
@ebperformance84362 жыл бұрын
My frame came with the cups not installed….however I received bearing cartridges and they were sealed, the first time I installed them ass backwards…and made it hard to steer, I had to take the forks off, and fix the issue. Unfortunately I stripped a bolt on the gooseneck….I’m going to either have to buy another one, or I’m gonna drill the head of the screw off, and use Pliers for the screw…or I’m gonna drill a hole and use a screw Extractor. I’m tired of having to order something and have to wait…I’m 5/7 and the 200mm shock made the bike sit too high, if your over 6foot 1…then your good, any shorter…. And your gonna have a hard time getting on and off, if you come to a stop, your gonna have to lean the bike. I ended up buying a 150mm shock, and returned the 200mm shock’ not to mention…I’m using 27.5 rims….my 150mm shock came in….it’s now suited for anyone under 6feet, I can higher the seat, 150mm shock makes the bike suitable for shorter ppl. It fits people 5foot 3 inches to 6 foot ppl’ with the seat adjusted higher’ if I put a stealth Bomber Seat on it, it will only fit people 5/3 to 5/8. Looks like a Tron motor cycle’ if you ever played the video game, or saw the movie’ You would know what I’m talking about.
