Sometimes people need time. I feel like society is a little bit too obsessed over achieving, measuring, competing, growing. Relationships are important, and they take time. Personally, right now my goals are not nearly as ambitious as Tina’s. I have found that I consistently underestimate how much I can get done in a day, and it’s been a busy year. Therefore a big 'goal' for 2022, for me, is to play games. Do nothing ‘productive.’ Life is not just about making yourself useful. That said, organizing and visualizing are extremely important, for anyone, and it always strikes me how people I know want to quit smoking, for example, but don't draft any plan, nor set any measurable goal/ rewards. It's so easy to give up like that. You don't have to aim for the sky for such plans to be useful.
@XoXoInsaneTrainXoXo2 жыл бұрын
YES! Our society has such an obsession with work and merit and almost zero focus on meaning/interests. It's like, "damn you want to play video games because you enjoy it? You're a lazy POS" I agree with your second statement as well and I think there's a balance between setting goals and giving yourself time to do things you know you enjoy without judgement. It's how I've avoided burnout
@kuze96488 ай бұрын
It's such a bad take. Obviously you want level up not just in games. If you're a smoker, your goal/reward is getting healthy, not getting cancer or maybe saving money spend on it. You just don't quit on a spot and having no strategy to limit progressively the amount of cigarettes you smoke or make it more difficult to reach out for them will lead to relapse at some point. You end up smoking again after a week or 2.

Thank you Tina. Sometimes I find it hard to watch your videos because I end up regrettably comparing myself to you and feeling bad about how seemingly incompetent I am, but half the time I'll force myself to click on your videos anyways and speed-watch them through. At the end, I always feel a bit more inspired and a bit more helped. I've got to say, watching your videos feels similar to confronting my discomforts, such as getting my life together. Thank you for the boost.

Even if your not really a visual person the concept here are good ones. I'm more written, math type of thinking. So building a a algorithm based off a vision bored could work or building table. Maybe both. I built a algorithm for my time( explains my profession a writter, M.I.S management information systems it's a business/tech degree. Who is getting a second degree in either accounting or logistics. I'm really good and getting even better at measuring because I wasn't recently diagnosed with diabetes while the universe may close a door it opens a window) so think how this could apply to the way you think.

I turned 27 at the end of October. I have a MA in logistics engineer and I am a 5th year PhD student. My life has been a mess since forever and I couldn't achieve much in my 20s except my MA's graduation. No finance or career progress and I didn't do well in my PhD research because I realized that I am not passionate about my major at all. I also have an issue imagining my life after 30 because according to modern standards that is when everything goes downhill.. I am only left with like 2 years and 9 months to achieve greatness and this makes me feel so stressed. What would you do if you were in my position?
@nicf15552 жыл бұрын
probly drop from the phd and pursue smth ur more interested in honestly, its not a tragedy. (and thats coming from someone who's about to do that at 28 btw lol). also why do u mention greatness? do u want to achieve greatness or does that come from fear, putting unreasonable expectations on urself etc? what would greatness look like for u, like what would u put on ur vision board? do u have someone trustworthy to talk through that entire process with you in a non-judgemental way?
@KimmiiaS2 жыл бұрын
@@nicf1555 For me greatness means impacting a good number of people by my actions or my creations and also even if this is a bit taboo and no one says it honestly but I want to get praised for my achievements but nowadays all the focus is on young achievers unfortunately.. Those past 30, or as they call them late bloomers ( when actually the majority start their projects around 30) get little attention from the press in general. And I do have someone trustworthy, my mom but what she suggested to me doesn't lead me anywhere. Her advice was to push through the PhD because it will open more career opportunities for me and also because it is difficult to get hired with a resume that has a 5 years gap.
@nicf15552 жыл бұрын
@@KimmiiaS i think focusing on young achievers may be more of a thing in your discipline than it is out in the real world. do you want to be recognized in the press, like are you in it for the fame? you wouldn't have a 5 years gap in your resume though, you'd have 5 years where you were pursuing a phd degree that you chose to get out of. that is something a potential future employer would understand. and if they didn't they understand how someone would want to change their path in their 20s they would be significantly reducing their potential applicant pool, and they may not be a great environment to work in anyway
@nicf15552 жыл бұрын
i mean ur gonna be 30 in 3 years anyway, theres nothing that will stop that from happening. so what version of u would u like to be there when it happens?
@KimmiiaS2 жыл бұрын
@@nicf1555 For me 30 means little. It is a big deal for the whole world. I see no difference between 25 and 30 like literally none. Because I now realize how 5 or even 8 years can pass quickly. But I guess I got brainwashed during the pandemic and now I feel like after 30 I can't grow a name anymore. And No I am not in it for fame only but it is something that matters to me nonetheless.

@TinaHuang12 жыл бұрын
Haha I think it doesn’t make much difference what age you are except that maybe you have an easier time figuring out what it is you actually want in your life :) it all starts with an honest audit of the current state of affairs, then where you want to be, and scaling back to how to achieve it using SMART goals ❤️ I will start to always use a tracking system with the scoreboard now because I’m not disciplined enough otherwise 😅

There's nothing shameful in wanting to do that in your 40's. I have started to change my life at the start of the pandemic. I still have many ways to go but it's getting a lot better day by day. If the advice talk to you in a good way don't feel ashamed, feel thankful :) You'd be surprised at the number of 40'ish people who would like to change their life but don't even try. In my view Law of Attraction is BS that people shouldn't be using as terminology. I dislike popularizing terms from pseudoscience. People use it in 2 senses of the term. 1) A loose use of the term as a general idea of doing things to put yourself into situations where you might attract good in life. Like having a positive attitude makes you encounter situations that are better than if you don't. 2) The strict meaning as it was invented, some woo mind over body invented by an occultist, nowadays often using words like quantum to make people think they can change causality by wishing for it strongly. This obviously is pseudoscience and An example of how it's bs: If 32 parents of participants in a tennis tournaments all tell their kids about law of attraction and are all worked up about it reality hits them in the face with the fact that there is only 1 tournament winner structurally. If you want to make gains in life then participating in games where everyone wins, like say all students in my class passed the exam, cause the game is structured to make that at least possible. But some things you just don't make gains even if you do everything right because they are limited resources scenarios.
