Diverse formats are the best (imo) because they reward good basics, knowledge and fundamental understanding of decks/interactions/goals.

The hardest thing when deck building is deciding on the tech options for a given format. Deciding between going 1st or going 2nd cards, and cards that can work on either players turns. I struggle at times deciding between trap cards and cards that can work on either players turns. A good example is the difference between Solemn Strike and Book of Moon. It's interesting, because these two cards can have a lot of different interactions against Kashtira. Mind you, Kashtira runs forbidden lance at times, and solemn strike can get around forbidden lance due to being a speed 3 counter trap. However, book of moon is more flexible when it comes to going 1st or 2nd in a game.

I mean you pretty much explained it perfectly, a lot of times some cards end up being worse because they’re slower (traps) even if they’d be better in a certain situation

Joshua's points about picking something consistent, strong and adaptable are on the dot! I've been rocking despia for a while because of that reason. So glad to see you getting bigger names on your channel, and I loved the vid with Jeff Jones.

One thing I struggle with is finding time to grind Yughioh at the moment. Between work, gym and my relationship I genuinely struggle to figure out how people like Joshua have time for Yughioh and everything else. Maybe I need be more organised or try prioritise the game more. That or accept that other things are more important to me.

This is a great video. I have one suggestion: you mentioned at 30:54 that there are resources online to check out for more information and rulings. Can you point us in that direction? I’m trying to get much better and more competitive. Thank you

Hmmm there’s content on yt, my channel has a playlist dedicated to rulings and a rulings quiz, other than that a lot of times u’ll be able to find rulings for specific cards by just googling interactions. OCG database always updates rulings and usually ygorganization.com posts about those. There’s also Judge’s Lounge on fb:)

As someone who doesnt play in tournaments, does calling a judge on someone whos rude and slow actually do something? Like what is the judge gonna do kick em out on your word that they are rude???
@shadowrabbitygo
@shadowrabbitygo Жыл бұрын
When a judge comes, both players will have to give their sides of the story and I think at that point it's fairly easy to determine which one is telling the truth. That kind of behavior can then be penalized, yes

I would like to add this when someone call the judge on you for slow playing don't get mad at that person calling a judge for you their helping you understand that you have a time limit to make it plays we're not trying to make you feel worse we're trying to make sure that you stay on track with the time and make sure that you make your plays in the official amount of time so that way when you start getting used to it you guys will get better. I'm telling you this channel is amazing guys she's doing a hell of a good job she's going above and beyond to help you be prepared for events this video has to go viral I don't care this is to help people get better at the game this is very good information or should I say what Josh says perfect information.

The only thing I'm struggling to understand is chainlink priority/blocking/timing. Are there any resources that can help me understand these things better? For example, how mo ye into Chixiao you chain link 1 Chixiao and chain link 2 mo ye. Or with floo you chain link 1 bird on the field and chain link 2 banished bird. What part of the text implies this type of chain blocking/priority? Is there something I'm missing?

Uhm u can look up the yugioh fast effect chart and that should clear some things up hopefully:)
@billybobmcbo6077
@billybobmcbo6077 Жыл бұрын
Look up SEGOC (simultaneous effects go on chain). There's a few nuances to it, but the gist is that the player gets to choose the order that trigger effects go on the chain when multiple effects trigger at once. If you're coming from master duel it's confusing because the rules are a bit different there, but in the TCG it's the players' choice how the chain gets built up from multiple trigger effects
@anotheremail7118
@anotheremail7118 Жыл бұрын
@ShadowRabbitYGO I mean I understand the basics of chain linking but I've realized there are some cards that allow you to chain link 1&2 before the other duelist has a chance to respond. I'll look into the fast effect chart. Thanks for the heads up.
@anotheremail7118
@anotheremail7118 Жыл бұрын
@@billybobmcbo6077 alright this SEGOC explained it perfectly. When multiple effects trigger at the same time, the player gets to prioritize the order in which they play out. Thanks Matthew and Shadow rabbit!
