I use a standard cuticle pusher. I don’t have any particular brands that I use I just get them off Amazon. What are your thoughts on dip powder and builder gel? And what is the beat way to remove without damaging your nails

My personal opinion I do not like dip powder it is an acrylic. Best way to remove is soaking off. Builder gel is generally a hard gel which does not soak with acetone I do not use hard gel in my shop just a personal preference. To remove builder gel you generally have to file it down I would recommend filing till you have a very thin On your nail place and letting the rest of it grow out so that you don’t risk damaging your nail plate filing all the way off

If it’s a tiny little bit it’s really not a big deal sometimes a little bit of the gel could really stick to the nail and continuing to buff is really thinning off the nail more than removing the last little bit of polish so it’s really not a big deal as long as the surface is dry smooth and not oily. Always want to do your best to scrape off all residue from remaining product though sometimes you just need to put the acetone pad on it for another minute or two more to soften the last bit up changing the angle of your scraper tool can definitely make a difference and making sure it’s not a dull scraper

Sandra Reid Hi! If you are soaking your nails off to immediately do your manicure the only time you’re going to buff is once you’ve completed the entire mani (file nails, cuticle cleaning ) and you’re just buffing to smooth out so that you can polish. You should be using a buffer on a soft foam pad not a file and I wouldn’t use a grit any rougher than 180. You can use a softer grit (meaning bigger number like 200 220 etc) essentially the only time you really buff the nails is once you remove everything the nails are clean then you’re just moving them out. @@TheNaturalNailGuru I was going to ask the same thing, because I thought you have to buff your nail bed to get the gel to adhere better or something. My concern is that if I have to buff my nail bed every time I want to repaint my nails the nail bed will get really thin. It's already thinner than most peoples, because I've been a nail biter my whole life.

It is most likely that your nail plate is thinned and damaged. The soak off process should be completely painless. A little bit uncomfortable because you have your nails soaking for 15 minutes sometimes they curl a little bit depends on the client but it definitely should not be painful in anyway. Make sure you are scraping gently not aggressively even if you have to soak a little bit longer
