I work in retail, mostly stocking shelves. I did my first gel overlay, I used Kodies soak off builder gel. It's self leveling, so really easy for beginners. It took 5 hours, because I'm not used to it, but I love it! I did clear builder with a clear top coat for now. Planning on just changing out the colors on top. I also did one nail at a time, then cured, so it wouldn't move into my cuticles. My nails grow very slow and are naturally thin, so I'm hoping I'll eventually get some length. I just turned 37, and never had long nails 😂 It's going to be a birthday present to myself to grow them out finally.

It used to take me about five hours to do my nails as well LOL it is a learning process and even now that I know how to do my nails perfectly it’s still about a three hour process LMAO. Most important thing so that you do not impose any damage onto your nail is being patient and soaking product off properly and never filing your nail plate because that will definitely keep it thin. I hope your nails get healthy and long! And push your cuticle back very important step to promote nail growth

Do you feel like using the structure gel over the gel color makes removal easier than if it were applied to the natural nail as a base? I recently got into using builder gel (I have the Aimeili brand) and find it quite difficult to remove from my natural nail and concerned about potential damage over time. By the way, thank you so much for the wealth of information on your channel devoted to those of us who prefer to rock and grow out our natural nails and keep them healthy! :)

I’ve had structure gel in my manicure box for a few years and I never knew how to work it. This video has really changed the game for me-especially since I’ve been growing my nails out. The strength the structure gel adds helps a lot! 🤩 thank you! 💅🏼

Tati! You are so helpful! Thank you for your channel! How do I get this product without a license.. and also the CND cuticle away product?
@TheNaturalNailGuru2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’m so happy I can help. The structure gel overlay you can get in so many places I actually just Google it under the shopping tab and look at some of the top links to see who has it at a better pricing for the moment. walmart.com is actually a great source. The CND cuticle away I get at a beauty supply located near my shop but you should be able to Google and find online nail supply shops that can mail it to you

I have the gelish structure gel in a nail polish form- do you have any thoughts/reviews on it? if so, what do you recommend? Also, thanks for ALL the information- definitely a big help. :)
@TheNaturalNailGuru4 жыл бұрын
kayybabyy2810 hi!!! Ive used it and I totally recommend the pods. The structure gel in the polish bottle form does provide a little bit more strength than just doing a normal topcoat but after using the structure gel from the pod for so many years and getting used to that durability There’s no doubt it’s better. Also lasts longer... advantages for DIY is that it can be easier to use since with pods you pretty much sculpt it. Def gets easier over time. But for me if I want strength I need to use whatever it’s going to get me the best strength and still soak off with acetone and that structured gel. I’ll definitely be doing a video on this because I’ve had a recent inquiry regarding the same thing and you know I want to review other structure gels and see if it compares to Gelish 😉 hope that was helpful!

Using your method, before you apply the over lay to the finished nail, do you apply base coat gel, top coat or put it directly on the nail? For example: remove old gel, apply cuticle remover, shape nails, buff nails, apply base coat, color gel, polish, structure gel then top or matte coat?
@TheNaturalNailGuru3 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s exactly what I do! I do the whole manicure then right before I put on the topcoat is when I do the structure overlay 😉

@@TheNaturalNailGuru sorry if this is a dumb question, but you still use top coat after the structure gel? Also do you think this would work overtop regular polish? Thank you in advance!!
@sandrarodriguez43324 жыл бұрын
Hello, Here I am checking out your other videos, as recommended by you. So, this is more of a top coat overlay. Once the two coats of color are in place you now do this Gelish structure as the top?
@TheNaturalNailGuru4 жыл бұрын
Sandra Rodriguez yes I do point out that I use this product very different than how most or all people do 😁 my personal opinion it is easier to work with and apply less time consuming and the manicure it looks cleanest when it is applied over the color rather than the base of the nail 😉

I want to try this gel. Is this a flexible gel? It definitely would be easier to try it your way.
@TheNaturalNailGuru4 жыл бұрын
ChristianGyrl 3 yes this is a flexible soft gel just thicker to provide more durability. And I do not like the way it looks putting it under the color which is normally how it’s done so I know it’s very different but doing it my way is also very easy for someone who is doing it on themselves 😉

@@TheNaturalNailGuru I don't have a problem with you trying to use a product in different ways. I think it's super cool😎😉😁😄. Im going to give that gel a try. I gel I currently use is a hard gel but it's super flexible. To me it feels and acts like a soft gel. I look forward to comparing the two. How do you build your nails from bottom to top?
@missmichelle19974 жыл бұрын
idk if i hard wrongly , but you put the structure gel after base coat And before top coat?
@TheNaturalNailGuru3 жыл бұрын
I do my overly very different than anyone else I am sure LOL but after using it for so long I prefer putting the structure gel right before the topcoat so after the color and art is already done that’s when I apply the structure gel for me it looks nicer and it’s easier to apply 😉

So I had a gel overlay put on my nails a couple years ago. I had several of the overlay "nails" completely pop off my natural nails. 🤔
@TheNaturalNailGuru3 жыл бұрын
The time product is detaching from the nail on its own completely is usually because of the preparation of the nails before they put the product on. More than likely they soak your nails and water or they just didn’t do a good job at cleaning and drying up the nail surface plate.
@Curlycomedy3 жыл бұрын
So I thought a soft gel overlay (ability to soak off) was the same as a soak-off gel base (base + cure, top + cure, wipe). But are you saying not to put color on top of overlay? This is just like a super strong top coat to protect your mani from chipping? I like to change colors often, so maybe this isn’t the method for me.
@TheNaturalNailGuru3 жыл бұрын
This is just how I choose to do overlay. I do it very differently than anyone else. Generally speaking overlay, regardless of the products you’re using (acrylic, soak off gel or hard gel), is intended to go before the Color coats.
@karenm19652 жыл бұрын
Can you use only the overlay on short natural nails if you just want clear?
My question is very simple, if I use a Soak Off gel, vs a Hard gel do my nails bend?? Like with a regular polish?? Because I do not want it to bend too much
@TheNaturalNailGuru4 жыл бұрын
Kei kei Soak off gel is flexible so it would depend on how soft your nails are. Gel polish is not as thin as regular polish but it is not meant to strengthen your nails just offer a longer-lasting manicure solution. For nails bending/breaking I use soak off structure gel as overly to help with this issue. It definitely makes a great difference.
