Do I need to worry about water getting in through those holes after installing?If so I'm thinking I could use some clear sealant on the top of the lock box.

You could dab silicone around the holes before installing so you don't see it afterwards and will probably work better. Not sure if it's needed at all though. Could drill a drain hole at the bottom of the door's rec tube just in case and observe.

They're 7/16" carriage bolts. 1/2" drill bit gives lots of room..

Yes but it burns the beautiful powder coating. I would suggest installing it first and see how you feel about it welding it afterwards. I think you'd rip the dots off the container before you ripped the lock box off the doors.

Will a regular pad lock work on this?

I found that the lock can be picked easily but it will often only pick half way. Its difficult to pick under the shield. I tried twice they also make this lock with a barrel tumbler. Also can be picked with the right tools. Not every one has those tools.

Ma è un normale lucchetto che uno scassinatore lo apre comunque dal di sotto. Quell'aggeggio serve solo per coprirlo dalla pioggia. A meno che ci va una chiave super speciale.

Sure that might work if the owner is the only person who needs to use it, but that's not going to help much when the container is on a train that is stopped for whatever reason.

The only thing a lock does is keep honest people honest! A portable cutting torch kit or a skilled lock picker could easily defeat that lock in minutes!
