Great content man - Subbed - Looking forward to seeing more of your content! Couple of questions if you wouldn't mind answering? 1. The plywood floors are treated with some pretty nasty pesticides and I am considering ripping my floor out and laying new ones, do you have any thoughts/experience on this? Have the pesticides ever been a problem? 2. Is lead paint still used for the paint on the shipping containers? Internal or external. Thanks man keep it going!

Hi Richard. Thanks for the positive feedback. 1. The pesticides in the wood floor affecting health is a nasty myth and has been scientifically debunked by the National Portable Storage Association. Publication can be found here: npsa.org/Modified-Containers. To summarize the findings - don't ingest (eat) large amounts of the wood flooring and you'll be fine. Also, if you're wondering, the coating on the underside is a bituminous waterborne undercoating. 2. The ISO standards control the structural components and testing of containers and not so much the surface preparation and coating system. This means that there will be variance between manufacturers. in 2017 factories in China were mandated to switched to waterborne paints instead of solvents but that is only the method of applying the paint and not the chemical composition of the paint. The paint used didn't change, just the method of applying it. The industry is very standardized and all factories typically apply the same coating system. Zinc is used as the sacrificial later (primer), not lead - that is another myth (or very old coating product used by factories). The general makeup of the exterior coating is: - one coat of epoxy zinc rich primer - one coat of waterborne epoxy zinc rich primer - one coat of waterborne epoxy or acrylic middle coating - one coat of waterborne acrylic top coat The general makeup of the interior coating is: -one coat of epoxy zinc rich primer - one coat of waterborne epoxy zinc rich primer - one coat of waterborne epoxy or acrylic top coat

I put in some vents from a company called 360. Nothing like them on the market. Patented to move air. Moves air 70% of the capacity of a 12 inch fan. No moving parts. No more condensation
@schlomoshekelstein908 Жыл бұрын
are you saying it's only causing 30% obstruction for the fan, or are you implying the vents can move 70% of the air a 12" fan can, without a motor?
@schlomoshekelstein908 Жыл бұрын
so you're a conspiracy theorist but you spendt $300 and believe these people that you somehow have the power of an electric motor without any electricity. shit. for. brains.

If you plan on using spray foam insulation are the vent's pointless?
@TheContainerGuyTV2 жыл бұрын
They still have a purpose if fuels or harmful vapours are being stored inside. They are not needed to control condensation if you are spray foaming.

With all the backup of shipping vessels and such. Do you see container prices coming down.
@TheContainerGuyTV2 жыл бұрын
Container prices are unsustainably high. The only way I see pricing remaining at these levels is if inflation runs rampant. Either way, prices aren't going up. Shipping lines and leasing companies have been loading up on new containers over the last 2 years and haven't been selling off their used fleet so we will see inventory laying around once the global shipping industry stabilizes.

Peter Rivas 2 Question - I bought a 40 foot container my County Code Requirements say ( that when the 40 foot container door is completely closed or lock the cross ventilation is provided in the amount of two (2) square inches of vent area for each square foot of floor area ) How many Big Air Vents will I need for my 40 foot 9.6 High Cube Container ? & Where would I install them on the container ? Thank You
@TheContainerGuyTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. That's a very interesting calculation and I appreciate you voicing it and asking the question. The answer depends on the definition of "vent area". The plastic portion of the vent is 8inch x 12inch which is 96 Sq. In. Net Free Area advertised on the plastic vent is 45 Sq. In. You need a max of 640 Sq In of "vent area". So you either need ~6 vents if using the area of the vent or ~14 if using the net free area. I would suggest 6 BigAir45s is plenty. The floor area of 320 sq ft could be calculated as slightly less if only the interior floor is used. The exterior dimensions of the BigAir45s are 11 inch x 14 inch so if you could use those dimensions (probably not correct) you could get away with 4 vents which is what we suggest in a 40'. The hole you cut through the container is 9 inch x 14 inch so maybe that is the dimension easiest to argue. Can you get back to me with the definition of "vent area"?
@peterrivas91182 жыл бұрын
@@TheContainerGuyTV I went back to the County Code Requirements Office to have them give me the Definition "vent area" their reply was the total inside area of the 40 foot container. so you were right in your suggest I need 4 Big Air45s vents , they told me that would be more then efficient . Thank You for your Help

In another video you show how easy it is to remove the doors by cutting through the hinge pins. Would doors locked with a lockbox as you show here be removable in that way by thieves?
@TheContainerGuyTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes if you don't lock the door handles as well. The two doors at once would be extremely heavy so unless there was a group of 4 thieves, you'll likely find the person squashed under the doors. Hope they learned somethin'
