I’ll never forget this guy speeding up behind us on the mountain road to Tofino. We pulled over, and he zipped past us. Sure enough, a little further up the road, we found him upside down in a ditch. Another motorist was already calling 911, so we kept moving-no point in interrupting someone in a hurry to have an accident.

I was 21, as I recall. Heading into a breafast cafe. Saw a Texas State Trooper's car and stopped to admire the eqipment. On the dash was an acronym which read All Good Kids Like Milk. It stood for Aim high, Get the big picture, Keep your eyes moving, Leave yourself an out, Make sure the other guy sees you. I'll be 80 next month and I've never forgotten that sage advice, been driving that way ever since. And had zero accidents.........

I had a guy tailgating while i was going literally like almost 35 in a 25 speed limit street. I know i wasn't supposed to but that street is really narrow and pulling over could've cause an accident. He was angry beeping his horn aggressively. If it wasn't for laws oh man the things i would've done..but instead i just started recording and when the police ran his plate the car wasn't registered and he had no insurance. So they towed his chunk of garbage car,it was such a great feeling i tell ya' 🤌

A really simple thing I also do is always have on full normal lights, especially when snowy or foggy. Modern cars use only daylight saving lights in front when automatic lights are on, not rear. So you loose a lot of visibility for cars behind you. Fog and white snow often won't activate rears.

Zipper merge would be more effective if they advertised how to do it properly. I learned about it on KZbin after decades of driving

Yep I agree but in the real world zipper merging won’t work. Some don’t know and get really aggressive about letting people merge infront of them when the merge ends 😅

Having said that, if you're in the passing lane, especially on the freeway, you have to move your tail off the passing lane!

Hi Rick, great livestream. I hope that I can join some time. I have a question about judging your speed while driving down on steep hills on a curvy road. I recently had such a trip and found it difficult to judge the speed I was moving with. Sometimes I slowed too much on insignificant curves but the more scary part was when I was going too fast on an almost 180 degrees turn and I had to slam on the breaks while turning and the back of the car started skidding. Luckily there were no cars on the opposite side of the road but still it was not a pleasant experience. The advice I got from the other passengers in the car was to treat every turn as a sharp turn. But this doesn't seem practical because 90% of turns you can take with just a little bit of speed reduction but the other 10% of the turns you need to go as fast as 10-20 km/h otherwise you risk losing control of the car. What is your advice on this? How do you judge the speed you need to enter a turn with in order to have the best experience for you and your passengers? P.S. I am talking about going downhill on steep hills because this is where the car will accelerate the most without your involvement (especially cars with automatic transmission).

Hello, would you mind answering a question I have. Few days back while on 401E, I was on the far left lane and was changing onto the middle lane, put my blinkers and shoulder checked, just as I was merging onto the lane, the guy from the right lane decided to merge in too without blinkers on. Luckily we avoided collision, what pissed me was he flipped me off when he didn't even turn on his blinkers. can you please let me know how to avoid that. a video tip on this would be helpful. thanks

Do you have any videos that go over speed limit based off area for example like residential areas? I have difficulties telling areas apart because I haven’t experienced all of them or if I have it wasn’t a lot.

Well I guess my question would be if we're not supposed to slow down should we not increase following distance between the car in front of us if somebody is tailgating us? Wouldn't we need to slow down to create more space between us and the car in front of us? Thought if the car in front of us breaks suddenly if we allow more distance we can come to a slower stop so that the person behind us has more reaction time. Edit I guess I should clarify I'm talking about on multi-lane highways we're the person refuses to move left to pass
