Rod knows his shit, guy absolutely spanked Chris eubank sr in sparring, beat Nigel benn twice in amateurs. Truly one of the most underrated boxers of his era, had he not of got a blood clot during his last fight he would of had a hell of a career.

Great to see Rod Douglas involved in boxing still, real shame what happened to him with injury, was a great fighter and very old school and knowledgeable. Agree with him about the speed ball, my trainer said they where mostly for show, floor to ceiling is a great bag/exercise for movement and timing and speed. Not sure about mayweather comparison from interviewer, the style of blocking was not similar at all. Good vid
@LittleRapGuy4 жыл бұрын
The speed bag is a waste of time, too. Shadow boxing into the KZbin camera is the greatest gym tool.

6 rounds on each bag but not every bag used in each work out right ? 5 bags at 6 round each would be 31 round wich is over an hour and a half on bag work alone. is this true or did he mean 6 rounds on one bag per work out ?

Fuck me that's a real London accent if you closed your eyes you'd think you were talking to a pearly king or an old dock worker, the accent is actually dying out in London now and its being replaced by the language of London Multi cultural which is about a billion times more irritating to the ears than the speed bag.

@TheGatesOfFire8 жыл бұрын
Isn't power from the legs, not the upper body?
@iloveicecreamandcake8 жыл бұрын
Power is definitely a combination of lower body strength, upper body strength, and good technique.
@outdoorrn29808 жыл бұрын
And for some power is just God given.....some guys are natural punchers, you just refine the technique, and KaBoom!!
@WorkerBeesUnite7 жыл бұрын
TheGatesOfFire i agree it comes from the ground n out thru the fist. i actually vey slightly dip my lead knee forward a half inch when throwing a hard jab for instance n rear knee for rear punches. great added power. also power comes from minimizing imapct time. no pushpunches needed. i focus on the fast return when i strike
@exgeeinteractive7 жыл бұрын
yep, but it's very subtle. In boxing not all punches have to hurt. Moving your lower body, core and upper torso requires a lot of energy. Rotating your upper torso and the shoulder snap are far more important. You've got to be energy efficient.

There`'s a guy comes in my gym and just uses the speed bag.. 6 rounds..bamama..bamama..bamama.. fucking racket. The guy looks so chuffed with himself cus he rocks the bag.. Cant box for shit though.. lol. I agree.. speed bag is probably least useful of the bags.. floor to ceiling far more useful for building timing.

great trainer - wise words, but i have to disagree with not having a speed bag, it is imperative to have one for speed, timing, coordination, rhythm and endurance.
@Noname-lk2ol6 жыл бұрын
Roads wrong. Speedbag is useless for boxing as far as skill goes, its for conditioning that's all. Double end bag is the necessity. Not Speedbag
@thelastshinobi50025 жыл бұрын
Check in the video that im posting what one can do if he uses the bag at 6:14 that coach uses. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m320qpd8iLJ6ebc
