Thanks for demonstrating the right cross with a straight arm. This is something I argue with people about and I keep telling them that their fist will collapse on impact if their arm is bent in a right straight cross. It took me a while to master the straight arm without hyper-extending the elbow, but it's so much more powerful and longer reach.
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 10 жыл бұрын
It's really a matter of strategy or circumstance. I'm a long armed guy and most of the time my opponents are closer forcing me to hit with a bent arm.
@GeorgeOu
@GeorgeOu 10 жыл бұрын
Sure, but my point is that you're able to hit with a straight arm. For training purposes, it's good to train a pure straight punch and a pure hooking punch. Then there are plenty of in-between punches that sort of look like a hook and a straight punch. Something might be 80% straight and 20% hook, and it's these punches where a slightly bent arm is optimal.
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 10 жыл бұрын
Regardless of whether or not "in-between punches" are optimal, they happen all the time. You can't really expect to get your opponent at the perfect distance all the time especially when he's moving around. It's a fact of realistic fighting conditions.
@GeorgeOu
@GeorgeOu 10 жыл бұрын
I did not mean to suggest that the in-between punches aren't optimal. I think they're just as good for the appropriate situation. What I was saying is that learning the pure straight and pure hook gives a fighter the full dynamic range of tools to do everything in between. What I was referring to as being optimal is that the in-between punches are optimal with a bent elbow. Any attempt to throw a curved punch with a straight elbow risks hyper-extension.
@expertboxing
@expertboxing 10 жыл бұрын
OHHHHH! Yes....yes, learn the extremes so you have the full range. And hyper-extension problem as well. I completely agree with you.

Frank, I know that you're a Professional boxer, but I noticed, when you're throwing your left hook, your right hand is against your face, but your right elbow, comes out and away from your ribs. This is a minor thing, but hey, every little helps. And, you need all of the help, notices, and tips in Professional Boxing. Glad I could help.

I think basic punching on a good heavy bag is paramount to increasing your potential punching power. I didn't get on the heavy bag for about a month and just shadow boxed and when I went back to the heavy bag,I lost a lot of power. Took me about 5 sessions on the heavy bag to get some snap back in my punches.

I think that is great how to slip and jab I mean what if you get into a fight or scuff to get out of it and to end it right there he throws a punch you move to the right and then you come straight in for the target I think that's awesome to prepare yourself for the target I think it's pretty awesome how to know that .

+Da Champ Colón Anapanasati is your answer, it has saved me just the other night when I went to pick up my wife from her friends house party, I walked in the house, her friends husband who had been drinking shook my hand Happy New Year and tried to crush my hand, he doesn't know about the kind of guy I am, I pulled my hand out, he started putting his head near mine, I stretch my left arm keeping him at distance ( this was all unproved ), I used to train at my local boxing club before I moved where I am living now, have always found myself having to stop people attacking me because I am short and have a soft face so been getting into fights all my days and I tend to live in rough areas, I practice anapanasati 1 hour every day so instead of me getting knicked and charged with ABH or assault, I kept an eagle eye on his movements and got my wife out of the house, I am proud of myself for not wrecking the fool, Prior to anapanasate I have been done many times for fighting even though I never started them and been fired from 3 jobs for fighting also, Try it because it is brilliant. PS I still do boxing training but only fight (knock them out) as a very last resort, good luck PPS respect to you Frank, good video.
