This is EXACTLY what I wanted. I started multiplayer recently and was focusing on English to learn the game, but most guides were outdated considering all the recent changes. Thanks a lot for this! Please do every civ and update them as patches come by 💚💚 Edit: now that I've watched the video, I can also suggest a part 2 to every civ going more in dept into their late game, as to how to manage the economy and armies to build up in castle, imperial and post imperial, as that seems to be a moment where I personally feel very chaotic and without a clear idea as to what to do
@jjmonito2 жыл бұрын
Well... this is very hard to say because when you reach castle age and later on, if the game is tight, then you have to adapt and counter your enemies. There are so many options- And also the multitasking becomes more relevant. I guess this comes with the practice and experience. By the way I have the same issue since AOE2.... My recommendation: reach 200 pop ASAP
@FacundoTupac2 жыл бұрын
@@jjmonito Agreed Jose! Thanks for your input. Still, having some guidelines and late game tips would be useful as, while the counterplay is essential, I feel that I don't have any clear plan to go for nor initiative to close the games
@xangry28342 жыл бұрын
@@FacundoTupac well i also think like jose, that if you go for imperials, you really just have to play to counter your enemy. you need to know what your enemies are going to do so i suggest you look up guides for every other civ and get an idea of how they play. im not all that good tho, only 1k elo tho so im not sure if it will fit your elo. also knowing what counters which unit will be needed. for villager distribution, will also depend on what units you need to defeat your enemy. one thing i can think of is trying to take over strategic locations and build keeps on big gold nodes. if you go super lategame, some resources will start to become scarce so whoever controls more, gains more. if game's in stalemate and none of you can take out another, you can consider wonders or sacred sites

Thanks a lot, I got recommended from a friend to start playing english and rush fast castle, but very often I was overrun. Like you said in your video, that you need the knowledge how to defend. Until now I didn't searched defense tactics, but like you mentioned towers near your production is helping out. I personally trained some spearmen and sometimes just walling me in the early in. So I buy myself more time to defend. Before the enemy makes rams.

10:07 - So if even one corner of your farm is in the influence, the whole farm gets the bonus?
@Knorssman2 жыл бұрын
Yes, same with all influence mechanics, the downside for farms on the edge is increased walking distance to drop off food, but if your farm is far from the mill but right next to the TC you can get a nice small bonus, I think viper does this a lot

New player here. In terms of early harassment, how do you handle it with this build? I've been playing English and typically go with the 7 food 3 gold feudal rush and find the benefit is when I get harassed (whether or not by another English) I can hold on and not lose too much efficiency. Am I missing something? It seems like this build is for when you're up against a civ that doesn't typically harass early.

That isn’t really the point of a build order. A build order is simply a foundational structure for you to base your early game around. A real game would look different. The goal here is to have a comfortable ideal to go towards, and then to learn the adjustments that need to be made according to each situation. Otherwise you could make about 10 slightly different English build orders based on what the exact match up is. And that’s a little outside the realm of a Build Order.
