How To Put Dubbing On Your Roughout Boots

This video explains how to dub your wwii roughout boots, it does take quite a bit of time to dub and this one coat took me about 30 minutes.

I remember reading years ago a British soldier's autobiography about his time during WW2 in North Africa and Italy. In particular a passage about when he received a new pair of boots. He took a whole tin of dubbing, coated the boots, then left them next to the camp fire over night. Next morning, he reported they were as soft as buckskin.

I’m assuming that you could also use mink oil for the boots, right?

when my boots get covered in very fine dirt or covered in dry dirt should i re-dub or clean them some how immediately after?, will the dirt dry out my boots fast?, or is it ok to have it sit there until next months re dubbing? im just worried because i spent so much money on my boots i dont want to mess anything up?

When my boots got covered in sand at dday I just threw some dubbing on them anyway. Another coat can't hurt. I'd try to wash as much as you can off but it's ok to do it with some dirt on it.

Wouldn’t recommend using a towel it ruins the Leather use a very soft towel or your 2 fingers

The type II service shoe you just use the correct shoe polish

@@Bigbacon I use Griffen shoe polish and it works good. Just make sure to get the right color. They also sell a very nice shoe shine kit that I use to apply it
