@@nathangarcia8189 those ones are from at the front but they have been having manufacturer issues so they are out of stock. SM wholesale has a good quality repro of the type II service shoes.

A couple of things to note. 1) Your flag is displayed incorrectly. The Star Field is to the left of the flag not to the right as you have it. 2) DO NOT BUTTON you buttons all the way to the top. Do that with the wool shirt if you are wearing a tie and only on the jacket when you are in the field, and it is bloody cold out. That is why there is a large gap between the top button and the next one down.

Great video. Could you do an update and provide detail on cold weather wear? What did US troops do for overcoats, knit wear, etc.. Thanks.

At a similar stage in the restoration of my GPW. It’s funny to me how some things are so simple, and some things are so overly complicated when putting it back together

All the Mess Kit Parts are of STAMPED, Pressed Steel or Aluminum. Later ones used MONEL Metal ( Stainless). No parts of the Mess Kit were CAST ALUMINUM , Nor CAST STEEL. All Parts were made from Sheet and Pressed in Dies.

Very interestin to see some US-Gear. I got a question: Do you have a Book, that describes some of the WW1 US equipment? I would be pretty much interested in cavalry stuff. Greetings from the german Cavalry of WW1. ;)

Nobody here seems to know the best method of all time. Snap the top center seam together, lay it completely flat with all 4 wings pointing straight out. Stake 1 half on the 3 loops along the straight. Take 2 of the 6 poles pieces, go to the pole grommets and stick the single section of pole in it. Pull it into a standing position, flipping towards the set stakes. Continue to lay it flat creating an overlap that will be 1 pole section long. Stake the 3 other loops. Now you can retrieve your 2 poles sections from the overlap and install the 2 assembled poles. Tie guy lines to temporary stake points. Snap the wi is together and install the stakes. On the closed end undo the guy line stake, then run the guy line through the snaps between the fabric layers and tie it to the wings stake, this eliminates 1 trip Hazzard. Go the the open end and partially stake both of the loops, make sure to leave the side you want to use as a flap closer to the head of the stake. Once the stake is most of the way down slip it off the stake and finish setting the stake. Adjust walls as needed.

F in the chat for use big calf guys. I made it work, but could be better. Mine are that yellowish tan, and I'm thinking of dying them brown. I have them for reenacting, but not WW2. I'm using them for western shooting matches, old west reenactments, ect. Also wanted something for keeping my pant legs from snagging on my motorcycle shifter, and something for hunting, to keep from getting my boots soaked from morning dew. Edit: Actually, I do the occasional korean war reenactment, so I guess that's close enough lol
