So happy to have a fashion video from you again! My cool-weather style uniform is a knit dress (or skirt and sweater), a blazer and knee-high boots. I wear my knit dresses casually at home, then add the blazer and boots, and a belt if needed, to go out. I never was a fan of jeans because I’ve never found a pair that fits my straight figure, until a few weeks ago when I tried a men’s pair - they fit perfectly. I’m amazed that I never thought of this before, I’m 62 (when I was a teen we girls wore men’s Levis before womens cuts came out). So, now I’ll maybe get into jeans as well as skirts and dresses. It’s hard to beat the comfort of a knit dress, though.

Im so into the oversized sweaters im picking things from the mens dept.. try it, you might just love it and you can find softer materials now as men are starting to demand them too. lol I found a mens brown chaps 95 cotton 5 cashmere ... paired with stretch copper pants with the faintest hint of sheen... love it and so comfortable. Love those black pants, looking for them right now, thanks for the idea.

I totally agree, keeping up with general trends, especially silhouettes, is so important as we age. I love “aim to look modern and current, not younger”, is this your quote? I love blazers for the great shape and structure they give, which is best for my columnar figure. Weather permitting, I prefer my cotton knit Ralph Lauren ones, they are as comfy as a cardigan, but so much more flattering, I always feel frumpy in cardigans, except for the “cropped”, waist-length ones or a long duster, which isn’t as current. I’m adding small shoulder pads to my knit blazers, they really sharpen up the cut. If it’s really cold, I prefer a lined wool blazer (a lining gives more wind-resistance and ease over sweaters), but they are so hard to find nowadays, polyester isn’t warm at all, just sweaty. Beth and other friends, I would love recommendations for high-quality blazers, I’m a size 12, limited by my bust and waist size. This is a UK size 16, and most of the high-quality blazers are made in the UK or elsewhere in Europe, but this size is nearly impossible to find in brands from there. I’m two sizes smaller than the average US woman, a 16 US/20 UK, and only 5’4” so I don’t know what our size of lady does there to find clothes that fit.

I love formulas! My favorite third piece for my casual lifestyle is the cardigan. I have different colors and prints, different sleeve lengths for different times of the year. Cardigans work well for me as I'm not a fan of blazers. My struggle is adding in trendy items so I tend to choose trendy colors in scarves and handbags. Love your content 💚

The style formulas are a great method of being able to wear the same article of clothing in several different ways that you know will work for you. However, I agree with you: graphic tees will rarely find their way into my closet. I just don’t find them particularly chic. (An exception might be a team jersey at a sporting event which is by its very nature a casual event.) But to each her own, right? And we’re so privileged to be able to pick and choose.

Loved this video..especially the rule of adding one trend. I'm in a very hot climate so glad you mentioned jewelry as a 3rd layer. I usually add a nice necklace to even the most casual outfit to elevate the look. Really liked your sneakers. I have 2 white pair but neither is ideal. One pair is Ryka and I like them for comfort but they are just a tad bulky ( good for days with grandchildren). The other ones are not comfortable enough and were a cheap impulse buy. Thinking I should fi ( gulp) one more pair in white leather. What do you think? I'm going to check out the ones you are wearing.

(my only, silly, correction would be... as my daughter corrected me yrs ago, is please do not refer to jeans as "blue jeans"... it's an old school term... in today's modern world, it's denim or just jeans.
