Today we are looking at how to use the Gigabyte Qflash system to update the BIOS on the Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX. The process is pretty much the same for any QFLASH enabled motherboard, with the exception of the actual BIOS file itself will need to be the specific one for your motherboard model, as i explained in the video intro.

Is this still the case in B650M series? Im waiting for it to arrive to build my setup but can't seem to find an old usb anywhere

I've made a custom build for a friend and we were struggling to get it to boot as the bios out of the box was not updated and didn't support the CPU we've bought. We tried contacting the stores and repair shops around, looking for a CPU that we can plug in and get the system to boot, but nobody was willing to help :< Your video saved us! Huge thanks! Your video saved my PC dude- as a beginner with building a PC, I was blindly following tutorial videos to set it up and fell into a scammer's trap. Ended bricking my MB, and resetting the CMOS wasn't working... found your video, did the Q-Flash Plus, and it worked! @ I downloaded the bios for the V1 motherboard and not the V2. You have to scroll down a bit more to find it. After installing the bios the first boot takes a very long time.

@@dexer3124 I format my usb key in fat32, put the content of the zip (lastest version, F34e) on the root directory, rename the B650EAELITEXICE.F34e file in gigabyte.bin, insert the usb key in the red "BIOS USB 3.3" port a the back of the mobo, and insert a screwdriver in the "Q-Flash Plus" hole and pushing the buttun inside it until the orange led next to it begun to flash. I let it flashing for at least 5 minutes until it stops, then reboot and voila, it works :)

@@mikesunboxing Update: I got the B650e version of this and it supports all 7000 series CPUs out of box, I didn't even go into the bios. I swapped everything over and after the memory training, it booted right up into all my same settings and OS. I also didn't need to change any bios settings to boot on the proper M.2 drive that runs my OS.

Changing the file name worked for me. That file name was for updating a bios via the UEFI. The bin is specifically for flashing 💡

Great video! Just to give a tip to people that already built the PC and are updating the bios after: You are not supposed to turn on/press the power button on the PC. Plug the power in and press the flash button while the PC is powered off

Cheers dude, flashed the bios many times but never once done it with Q flash before getting the CPU, needed to do it in preperation for the 98003dx and MOBO (the B650 gigabyte Elite AX2) shipped with a very old bios. Will find out in a few days (unless the scammers buy them all first) if it worked. :p

Doing the BIOS Update atm. Without this video I would not have known to check if it was a rev 1.0/1.1 or 1.2. Furthermore this seems so much more straight forward than the official Gigabyte way to do it.

Lots of people can’t access the bios so it makes sense to start at the very basic low level, this is becoming more important as amd are releasing more and more am4 parts that even the freshest motherboard stock won’t be ready for. The same will be happening later this year for the 9000 series on am5

Thank you for this very precise guide. One thing I did wrong though was cleaning the wrong drive because I was not paying attention and used the same drive number as in your video. It is a stupid mistake but can be made easily if you don't pay attention. So be careful which drive you wipe!

Just in case anyone else is clueless like me.. exFAT format does NOT work for this. I didn't even have a flashdrive, so i figured I would buy a nice big 128GB. When I tried to Q-Flash, the CPU light blinked for a second and nothing else. I tried to reformat from the default exFAT to FAT32 in windows command but got something to the affect of "drive too big". I went and bought a 32GB Sandisk flashdrive with a default FAT32 format and it worked out of the box perfectly :)

Perfect tutorial though I am not sure my Q flash was succesful. I did all the steps but when i pressed the Q-flash button on the motherboard (B760 Gaming X) the LED started flashing for ca 1 minute and then lit up without flashing for a couple of seconds and nothing more. Seems a bit short?

I found someother usb drive 64GB , did everything again and right now everythings is updating. I really thought my new motherboard was messed up

Hi there! I have this mb and face this problem. When i first builded the PC my BeQuite! Dark Rock Elite cooler's LED was on and working fine. Suddenly one day stopped. The guys from BeQuite have send a replacment cup it doesn;t work as well. They suggest it must have been turned of somewhere in BIOS settings but i cannot find anywhere a setting for this...

I received the new motherboard, processor and ram yesterday, I tried to install the gigabyte B560 X AX V2 motherboard and then flash it with the USB stick, the problem is a red light comes on, dip on the word "bram" and after a few seconds it turns off. I also tried installing the other components.

Hi mike I was wondering if you know if the bios version is printed on the pcb. I just bought ordered a aorus x870 e pro and 9800x3d. I always prefer to build pc and bios update from bios. Also mike my board has 2 8pin eps cpu connectors do I need to plug in both to do flashback thanks 😊

just one cable will be enough, and the bios revision is sometimes printed on the box bar code, or the date is stamped so that gives you an idea what bios was out on the production day

I am putting together a new computer this week. I have a GIGABYTE B650 AORUS Elite AX AMD and using an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core for the system. Been out of the computer building game for a while now. Was just wondering when updating the bios is there and certain order to do it in or does that depend on the board. I see where some say you have to update older revisions first before upgrading to the newest revision. With this board and processor compilation can I just do the latest revision before building my system or are there other factors in involved like what Ram or memory I am using? Thanks for any help on this.

build the system, that cpu will work out of the box on that board, but plan on updating the bios before installing windows

can you update the bios from the internet in the BIOS? doing it from a usb drive seems rather antiquated.

the troulbe with the internet version is possible connection issues and the bios would need a driver installed in the ROM itself to get online

your motherboard or motherboard will have the revision number on it somewhere, the revisions have slight differences in build and parts used so need to use the right bios for the right board

During my flash I have the usb in and just the power connections no hardware. I press the button and the power supply clicks on for a quick second then turns off. No bios led light. What’s the problem?

I am about to use this motherboard with an R5 9600x, my question is, should I update the Bios to the latest publication? or specifically to the update that aims to support the 9000 series? As of today, the latest update on the gigabyte website is B32g and the one that is specific for compatibility with the 9000 series is F31. Greetings!

@@mikesunboxing I have tried that and it didn't work. Would it matter in which slots they were inserted? I tried with one in the A2 slot, then removed it and tried with the other in the B2 one. More detailed: I downloaded some GCC updates and when my pc restarted the DRAM light was on and there was no connection to monitor/keyboard/mouse. I tried to reset memory with the manual button, and the red light was alternating between CPU and DRAM. I tried resetting the CMOS, and the DRAM light was the only one on. I tried booting with one of my two RAM sticks at a time to determine whether either of them was faulty, no difference. What else can I try? I've read online to flash my bios but I'm not sure how that would work if the monitor/keyboard/mouse aren't connected. Lastly, I attempted to flash bios but monitor won't respond. There is no signal.

I read where Mike said it could be an incompatible USB drive so the board won't be able to flash the bios. My efforts so far are only resulting in the machine turning on for a second or 2 when pressing the flash button, then guessing it's trying to read the usb drive, failing and turning off. So as a last resort what exact USB drive, make, model, size, is recommended? Also, I'm downloading using a Windows 11 system, but the board is on a Windows 10 system, so I'm using the Windows 10 links. If that matters? Good clear video, seems so easy! lol.. Thank you.

Hi Mikes unboxing, I followed all the steps and did a bios flashback without CPU and other parts as well. The bios flashback led blinked a few times and stopped after 5 mins. However, the dram LED on my x870 gigabyte Aorus wifi 7 stayed on, is that the reboot you were talking about? And if so, is it safe to proceed building? Thank you so much
