I'm glad that finally, someone using the Studio One Artist gets to explain how things are done with drum alignment.

Hey thank you so much for this video! I'm new to Studio one. I have a quick question, wouldn't quantizing each track separately give me phase issues ?
@EricMakingWaves4 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial. Also, I could listen to you talk all day. I'm coming to Studio One from Pro Tools and couldn't be happier. Especially because of stuff like this! Thanks for making this!

Very helpfull, I wasn't aware of that "strip silence" function before and - believe it or not - I used to cut out everyting manually. Been doing it for years. ^^ So thank you very very much!

1st off, thanks for sharing your mixing technique. I'm a newb to recording drums, and I didn't realize how involved it gets. That was the 1st S1 pro vid that actually made sence. Newb question. Do you add your plug ins, and do your EQ following the recording? Thanks
@Johnmike2 жыл бұрын
It depends on if I’m recording them or they were already recorded before…either way I do processing on them after I clean them

@@Johnmike Thank you. I had figured that, however I'm not finding many drum videos for S1 pro. Is Studio One not used as much as other DAWs for tracking drums? MUST sub to your channel, and check out your content

Hey man i realised you didnt do quantization for your overheads. Any reason for that? Thanks!
@Johnmike5 жыл бұрын
Too many transients...so I manually adjust those just by splitting and nudging the regions

Nice process, I also use S1, loving it ! Quick question though, since your first few drum tracks are pretty much in the same position, isn’t it possible to select those tracks and just do one quantization for all the selected tracks ? Or do you have to do them one by one ? 👍🏻
@jonathanprato4 жыл бұрын
Alright, sorry, just saw you did it for the toms and snare... 😅

This doesn't keep the phase relationship between tracks and doesn't sound very good.

But does this stop the robotic sound from happening?

Drummers play out of time. That’s part of the performance. Everyone else in the band plays to the drummer. Personally, I don’t think drums should be touched like this. It’s the slight movement that gives music its feel. This was not done in the 50s, 60s, 70s etc and a lot of those songs have stood the test of time. How many modern songs that have been “locked to the grid” will stand that same test?
