I've been watching and trying your methods to get rid of weeds. Spectracide seem to work better than any other I've tried. Only problem I'm having is the darn neighbors, who yards are FULL of weeds!😮 When they bloom and wind blows, guess WHERE they all seem to end up??? MY YARD!😮
@LawnAmateur7 ай бұрын
I definitely understand what you mean. Try the spectracide weed stop for lawns granular formula. After you use the spectracide spray to kill the active weeds. Spread down the spectracide weed stop for lawns granular that'll be a protective barrier to stop new weeds from germinating and it will also kill some active also.

Right.....mixing the herbicide with water (and love that you added a blue dye and a surfactant) is a more interesting configuration. It affords one the ability to use the herbicide of choice at the lower strength or at the higher strength. And, as you so aptly stated, you can add in another "control product". One thing to keep in mind with the "lower or higher strength".....there is usually a "do not exceed more than XXXX oz/1,000 square feet in one year". Many forget about that and will over-control their weeds (which causes other issues....).

Cool! You should start your own "Lawn Care Consultation Business", because I have several lawn care questions. You can use your knowledge to make some $$$! Also, once you spray for weeds how long do you have to stay off the lawn, in terms of walking across or allowing pets or children outside?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
I may have to look into that lol. Once you spray the weeds I like to wait atleast 24 hours before letting kids or pets back on the lawn just to be safe. Thank you for your support

Nice job! Question about safety, is it necessary to wear some sort of eye and respiratory protection when dealing with these products? Where do you usually rinse the remanents? On the outside hose, I presume?
@LawnAmateur Жыл бұрын
Yes you can always wear eye protection and a mask when dealing with these chemical products especially if its a windy day. I didn't because it was a calm day but I made sure I kept the sprayer nozzle low to the ground so no back splash would happen. And yes always rinse out your container on the outside of the house with the water hose if possible and discard in a safe place to make sure it doesn't run into drains. Thank you I'm glad I could help

Did not know about the shelf life issue of mixed product in clear container. I guess that explains why the weed killer I mix from concentrate doesn't seem to work after awhile. Learn something from every one of your videos.

Is there a good product to connect to hose for clover?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Spectracide, Roundup, Image, Ortho and Bioadvance all make hose end sprayers that handles clover. And ortho has a dedicated special hose end model that handles clover. Check out this video here all these products handle clovers👇🏾 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqHGhalmnJuomas Thank you for your support 🙏🏾

Any tips for getting rid of horsetail for good?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
You would more than likely have to dig it out by the roots. These sprays will kill the top growth but it may grow back. You can also try to kill it and then put down a pre emergent every fall and spring to suppress it from growing back

Any suggestions on getting rid of mushrooms in the lawn safely
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Mushrooms are not a bad thing in the lawn its a sign of healthy soil. They'll disappear on their own or you can pull them out. Also did you put down a fungus preventer on your lawn that'll also limit mushrooms from popping up.

Hello so I did this a week ago before the California tan hit again. I listened about the baby shampoo. I decided to mow my lawn Saturday and I have yellow spots in my grass in the areas that I sprayed 😢😢 help what should I do???
@LawnAmateur Жыл бұрын
More than likely if the grass is turning yellow or brownish in the areas you sprayed that can possibly mean that area of grass was a weed also. But herbicide burn to the actual grass can happen also and if that's the case the grass can recover over time just keep watering regularly.

@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
You can use vinegar mixed with some salt as an organic weed killer if you don't want to use this stuff. Only thing is the vinegar probably wouldn't last as long or work as fast

Need to also be careful what weed killer you use because some of them might not be compatible with your grass. For example I have St Augustine grass, and just about every weed killer available at the big box stores around me says don’t use on St Augustine hidden in the back label. I finally found something that will work with my grass, but I had to order online from another store. So be careful and read those labels.
@LawnAmateur Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely correct. St Augustine is a tough grass to treat for weeds from big box store products
@anoldfriend3901 Жыл бұрын
@@LawnAmateur yea, but I found a weed killer made by Ferti-Lome that says it works with St Augustine. Just in case you are looking for something for this type of grass in the future, or if someone else is having trouble finding one. Haven’t got a chance to try it out yet, but once I do hopefully it works.

You're lucky you don't have bermuda grass. That is next to impossible to get rid of permanently without damaging your fescue. The herbicides you need for that weed will cost you $40-80.
