I love using these and its great seeing someone of your caliber using them. Much easier than using jumper wire. Great idea to keep the cut off bits as jumpers too. Keep the videos coming

Great videos. I wanted to ask I was trying to solder fpc connectors for touch on iPad 8 however I couldn’t get the new connectors to be soldered well and the popped out. Then I messed up two of the pads on the board. My question is why the fpc connectors didn’t soldered well and if I should now buy those pads to solder on the board? I cleaned the area with isolated alcohol and applied flux and then tried to solder the new fpc but it didn’t go well. I tried to apply some soldering paste but I couldn’t get it to apply well on each pad as the paste was moving around all over the pads and not individually. I’ll highly appreciate your explanation on how to do it the clean way.

Nice video Jesse. My opinion on them is they are pretty good when you can use them straight on, if you got to route the tail anywhere jumpers appear to be better. Just my experience so far. I did use the round pads to fix a few ripped off filter pads on an iPad recently. That was interesting.
@VCCBoardRepairs3 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. Must be something that goes straight. Otherwise, a wire is good for anything else. I really like these for sandwich boards with ripped interposer pads

nice video, I appreciate. I’d have one question, is there any other solution besides uv to stabilise the pad on the pcb? Some type of glue etc? Thanky you

uv glue is best for this use case

I ripped a couple because my solder wick got stuck to them. Maybe I should've used more flux. And/or not pushed down as much on the iron. Thanks for the heads up though.
@VCCBoardRepairs7 ай бұрын
definitely needs more flux. Also better iron

Awesome video !! Just want to ask you ...why there is no special epoxy to extra secure that pad glued to the old pcb area ?? Or like using CA glue to fixate the copper to the actual missing pad area ?? Have you tried this ?? I know is a pain to do if there are 10 pads to fix but how come we have to endure using UV mask to fixate that little new pad ?? Is it that the new copper pad wont accept any glue added to it ??
I looked at the uv light on your video and damaged my eyesight 😩

I don't know what's going wrong with these things. Soldermask won't stick to it, it becomes a sticky mess. The glue on the things gets like chewinggum. I think I'm doing something wrong...
