I went to my dad when I was 4 years old and told him I wanted him to quit smoking because I wanted him to live forever. He threw his pack away right then and had me tape those patches on him everyday till one day he said forget the patches and its been almost 30 years since he's smoked

@@LiveOnPurposeTV .the only sad part to that story is my daughter came to me when she was 4 and asked me to quit and I was not strong enough. Now it is effecting my heath and I still can't quit. Diagnosed with C-PTSD anxiety and depression, N.A.S, smoking is my crutch. It gives me space and time. It calms me. But I really do want to quit. There is a company that does Cold Laser therapy to quit smoking and I know someone personally that did it and hasn't smoked in over 13 years. It is worth the $300 to me. It is over 2 hours from where I live and worth the trip. I am going to do this when the 1st opportunity presents itself

"If you're doing it for somebody else, it might not be a strong enough why for you." This is why I kept my quit a secret. By telling people and "engaging my support network" I was handing the power of judgement to them. I had to quit for me, and I had to stay quit for me. Not to impress everyone that I told I was quitting. This is why I disagree with telling people you are quitting. It's also been shown that bragging about your intentions can trick your brain into thinking you've accomplished those intentions and will reduce your chances of sticking it out.

I smoked for 14 years and failed at quitting so many times, never made it past 3 months. Until I got pregnant. My husband quit with me which was so helpful. After I stopped breastfeeding our baby I began to smoke again. At first just one or two slips but then I was back to buying my own packs again. About 4 months later my husband asked me to quit again. I knew it was the right thing to do for myself and for my family. It’s been almost 5 years now and I only think about cigarettes when I’ve had a few drinks. I’m grateful my husband was strong enough for the both of us and never went back to the nasty habit when I did. I feel I wouldn’t have been strong enough to kick the habit for myself, but knowing I’m doing it for them is what kept me strong. I hope everyone out there looking for their “why” finds one. I used to think the cigarettes calmed me down, but actually I’m a lot calmer without them.

It's so important on finding why you want to quit. I quit for four years then went back to smoking like an idiot but life happens right. I've decided my reason for quitting is to prove to myself that I can do it. It takes up way too much of my time and I am tired of being out of breath and wheezing at night. Also the money I will save is a huge factor...I'm only 2 days smoke free but it's a start. Wishing everyone luck out there trying to quit, you can do it! 🙏❤️☺️

I’ve known many with cancer who continued to smoke, those who take their O2 off to smoke. It’s a powerful addition for some including myself . My Wife was told if she didn’t quit she would possibly have a stroke, after 25 years of almost 2 packs per day, it was like a light switch went off, never smoked again, I never heard a complaint, was a amazing thing to witness . She’s thankfully been quit for 7 years. My lung doctor told me many times to quit, I’ve read all the books, hypnosis, videos ect I’ve tried patches, gum, candy. Ear magnets lol. My mindset isn’t there and scare tactics don’t work for everyone. I may read Carrs book again and take it in vs rushing through it. Im I’m going to do this one way or another

22 years heavy smoker, quit for 85 days today. very difficult. i think the key is to 'get prepared for boredom'. the first few days i felt absolute boredom, nothing to do, what to do now? , something is terribly missing, always want a cigarette, dont want to get up, and life is very meaningless. to be ready to live in this boredom was my biggest helper i believe. it is a war and the weapon that is fighting you and attacking you every day is 'boredom'. you need to be prepared for it, and you wont be able to destroy it, just be ready to face it every day and do not say i give up. it will keep coming every minute probably. no problem, just stand your ground.

Just started the process, 5th day. Been smoking for 20 years. 34 at the moment. Boredom is everywhere, attacking as you described it. Feel stripped and helpless against it. On weekend is much harder than when I work. Had few relapses with small filter cigars intead of cigarettes. I found it as huge success not to inhale smoke for 5 days only to puff it around mouth for a minute or two. Hope Lear Lear you will succeed as well. 85 days feel like a big deal already. Don't give up

its not just any old boredom either its like boredness to the point of insanity, and the fact you dont want to do anything at all at the same time makes it a near impossible thing to get past, gotta go through it tho, i barely made it to mid day today for my 1 smoke, i was losing it with boredom insanity, these next few days of not smoking at all are going to send me to a dark place but from memory once you get past that 3rd day you dont even crave it anymore, i keep making it past 2 days and then letting my temper get the best of me because life happens and something external bothers me, im aware that i cant let bs i cant control get the better of my emotions tho now and im prepared to humble myself when it does, this is it

Also nicotine hijacks your dopamine receptors which make them less reactive to things around you that used to give you enjoyment so that's why you feel depressed when you smoke it seems that only smoking can make you happy witch is ball and its the effects of nicotine hell even weed is way better than nicotine nicotine is just evil 😑 also dopamine receptors will recover after a while they've just been desensitized by the smoking that's why people end up chronically smoking in the end because they need more to pleasure themselves with the dopamine release that won't work with small amounts of nicotine anymore like me I was smokeing easy 30 a day and was chain smokeing because in the end I wasn't enjoying it no more I still get cravings but only short lived its only been 4 weeks it takes moths months from the brain to recover from the abuse

I pray you can quit right now ! You started smoking a year younger when I did I was 11. I’m now 50 and still struggling to quit!!! Please please don’t be another me 31 years later…. I’m so grateful that my constant moaning to my kids about how much I hate smoking but can’t seem to quit prevented them from even picking up a cigarette! I never smoke in the house because it absolutely stinks.. and I won’t go into a relationship because I know I stink of nasty smoke… you are still so young I beg you to please stop now before you really truly can’t stop. I know at 19 I could’ve stopped had I had just stayed away from the friends I was around , because they all smoked, so I continued because it was just easier. I can tell you now all but two of us quit smoking years ago! They were the ones who encouraged us not to quit. The irony. I have 6 cigarettes left, and won’t be smoking again after they are gone. I’ve had enough of a pathetic little white sticks full of chemicals ( dangerous chemicals) having control over me. !! So I’m going to look at it as if I’m David and the cigarette is Goliath 😂 and will win the fight, instead of caving in I will laugh at the cigarette as I break it in half. You can do it ❤🙏🏽

I'm suffering for physical gut issues. It has been 4 years going and with diet changes it has improved, but I still struggle and it bounces back and forth. I would say I am a slow learner and so this is and must be why I didn't see it or didn't want to see it. That smoking is my reason for not being able to manage my health. I fixed anxiety, I fixed and found ways to remove bloating, I fixed bowel problems and I found ways to manage stress in ways I had not thought, but I'm still fighting a battlefield of the mind with smoking. recently I also found out that smoking hinders my ability to be energetic, to manage stress and life in a Job task I am doing. It makes me tired and worn out. I am seeking a better way. I have been smoking since 1996. I trained my mind to start smoking and now having to re train my mind to quit. I have thought about patches. I have some and have not even open the box. I have thought of cold turkey and I am unsure if I can do it. The first time I did it I suffered for those couple of days. I felt like I was torturing myself. I understand that until I chance my mindset I will struggle. I hope to find the way and I want too. I know I will be better off once I find the why, and convince myself that not only do I not need cigarettes, but that I do not want them. I hate them. I want to say " I hate cigarettes " I wish honestly that they were illegal. Maybe in my own dream world because I cannot and do not want to take away rights of others for my benefit. It has to be their Journey. perhaps If I negatively promote hatred for smokers like I used to towards ex girlfriends that hurt me in the past ( I did this to quickly move on ) that It will ease my transition to going back to being a non smoker. Only time will. I can do this, but ill admit. I'm scared.

Plan for relapse? I quit smoking two weeks ago and fighting tooth and nail not to relapse. I don't EVER want to smoke again. I don't want to relapse. I want to be a NON SMOKER. This video was doing fine until he said that. It plants a seed in an addicts mind to justify using again. I will keep watching another person's videos because she has helped me with her wonderful advice.

Please look no further. This isn't a joke.my father smoked 25 years then quit almost for 20 years. Even though he quit he passed away from c.o.p.d . His secret was simple. He had a mild heart attack. Scared him.after having it he so much as didn't look at one. I hope none of us have to have that happen to wake us up. I watched the person I respected and thank God got to tell him to when he sees God tell him thank you so much for giving me the greatest father anyone could have die slow.kills me to think about it.however he is at peace. it might calm you at first and defintely when you are going through withdrawal. One day you get to the point where you can smoke 3 in a row and still want another because it's actually doing nothing. I am trying to quit and so realize it's all mental. I feel like my brain just needs to snap out of it and then i will quit. idk. Feeling a little more motivated lately than I have been.

My reason for quitting is that I think smoking is contributing to feeling anxious during the day. So far I've refused daily meditation, so I've got to try something. I'm at the end of day two. I felt great for the five years that I quit before, so I know I can do this.

Im 3 minutes into this video. I came here because Im 55 hours not smoking on 45 year career. Im also 6 days not drinking, that’s easy, smoking not so much. Up to this point, basically 2 and half days, it’s been easy, no problem, this gonna be a breeze. All of a sudden about 10 minutes ago, bang 💥, an urge so strong I almost lost it. I may have to go to the store and get a pack. I told myself when I started this that I wasn’t claiming “never again”, I gave myself permission to smoke if I wanted to. I know if I ride this out I’ll be fine in a half an hour. I may go get a pack then try again in a few days. I know thats a cop out excuse but Im losing this battle, at least for today.

I smoke, but wanting to quit for my health, money, and the awful smell. It has such a hold on me. I've never smoked to feel calm, I never understood that. I quit for a few years and have no clue how I did it. None. What is it doing for me? It's just me feeding my addiction and takes the craving away, I guess. That's it. I don't even think about it. I'm on autopilot when I do it and I notice when something causes me to have to wait for my next one that I usually smoke during that time. I need to quit.

I was pressured into smoking at the age 11… I’ve tried to quit so many times. My why is because I’ve suffered with severe ibs for years, so it’s my crutch for all my pain. I know why I should stop, I actually hate smoking now, the cost, the smell, the taste, but every single time I even think about quitting it just makes me want to smoke more 😢 the last time I quit was for about 3 months, the reason I started again was because I gained so much weight, ( even though I ate a healthy diet, and went to the gym five days a week)

Part of quitting a habit like this is doing it again and again. I love the old commercial with people saying, "I quit 9 times" "I quit 5 times", etc. They all slipped up and had to start again. It is the same with learning to play a song on a piano. We make mistakes, but we go back to the beginning and start over. Don't expect perfection from yourself. Your girlfriend shouldn't either. You can do this, just begin again.

I started yoga and meditation and training in gym and I'll think, that was good now don't smoke and ruin it and then 10 min later I'm regretting but still smoking. I've decided to try and do 10 min of yoga outside, that's where smoke, when want to smoke instead or even 5 min meditation. A replacement right? I have actually been sober for 1 yr from 1, 4 months from 2, of 3 different street drugs that did for over 14 years with determination, hypnosis (on KZbin) affirmations and listening to binaural beats music while sleep, so now is my time to quit smoking too and I can do it. Does anybody want to be a quit smoking buddy accountability partner with me? I had one cigarette after 15 years of being quit because the girl I was dating was a smoker and I had a moment of weakness and I've been smoking steadily for the past year and hate myself for it.
