How to Ram a Car and Keep Going | Offensive Driving Techniques | Tactical Rifleman

This week, chad shows us how to properly ram through a barricade. It's not like in the movies, where ramming at high-speed plows right through. Try that shit for real and not only do you cause substantially more damage to your vehicle, but you'll likely also set off the airbag, which will often activate the fuel cutoff... Then you're screwed.

Literally just woke up from a dream where a sketchy dude was blocking me in my spot in an empty parking garage. First thing I did is watch this video so I know what to do if he's in my dream again: basically you want to keep your left wheel lined up with their back wheel perpendicular while accelerating but keeping impact speed low enough to not set off your airbags

If you have to use your airbags, its good idea to take off your glasses.

Get a sports band for your glasses great for combat too.

We aren't worried about glasses coming OFF in this scenario. It's more a concern regarding the airbag punching your glasses into your face causing orbit lacerations in and around the eyes. Then you have the prolonged consideration of wiping blood out of your eyes for the rest of the duration while driving.

I was in an accident where the air bag went off but my body did not launch forward during the impact. The air bag merely tapped the tip of my nose and my glasses was not at all effected. However when the air bag does go off it releases some kind of powder/smoke. It was impossible to see in the car until we had open the doors to let it all out. So glasses issue won't make you blind, but the air bag smoke will.

What JP did this week It's smoke, a friend of mine worked for autoliv for a few years and the inflator is an explosive and it's set off by an ignitor charge. He told me that when the ignitor capsules were being laser welded that it wasn't uncommon for them to detonate every now and then.

I've taken a course like this, years ago. The mid 80s full size Ford Bronco I'm building into a war wagon will solve these issues, with a custom cowcatcher front end and no airbags, V8 motor and top mount gun with light armor

Also better to ram the vehicle on the side where there is no engine block its easier. Some cars have engines on the back of the car so ram the front side. The car on the video was front engine so he rammed the rear axle. Good video!

Typically I just choose to jump over the roadblock by way of a conveniently placed ramp or roll back tow trunk parked off to the side.

Sitting there and dying to an impromptu and sudden road-block is not a good way to 'resolve' the situation. This training seems more for intentional and what will be violent blockages where it is time to get the hell out - even if for only a family in a metropolitan area that gets intentionally blocked in.

Actually, we don’t. The air bag needs SHock AND Rapid Deceleration. If you slow first, then floor it, you car will still be accelerating

If you're going to ram a car use a car that has a bull bar because it connects to your chassis rails and generally made out of aluminium or hard Steel I've seen four-wheel drives Falcons Commodores crash into the back end of cars and push the boot into the back seats and rupture the fuel tank bull bars generally make a mess of whatever they hit I heard of kangaroos exploding on impact with a bullbar most cars in the country in Australia have bull bars or use a 10 tonne truck or 120 tonne of road train

If you hit a car, at any amount of speed above like 10 mph the air bags will deploy

Not true. There are several inputs that are required for the computer to fire the bags including deceleration. By slowing and then flooring it, you stay accelerating through the maneuver. I have been with dozens of students doing this drill and never had an airbag deployment
