@iFixit a thing to mention is that the books work for the back cover as a weight but not for the display as I've done this with adhesive bought from a local store, your adhesive parts, glue (5000) for LCD, and with the book weights in never succeeds, it always lifts up after a day or so. After attempting to fix 10+ S6 Edge smartphones the only solution was to use a T-7000 glue and carefully apply it in the bezels, after that I needed to let the phone clamped with 8 claps for 40 hours. Tried 4,8,24,32,40 and tested the time needed, thus far every model I repaired needs 40-42 hours until the screen stays glued to the bezels, I recommend you to make a guide about using adhesives and general ones which anyone can find worldwide and especially glues (I used B5000 as well but the screen always comes off even after a month.)

That was when we used phones only for calls or some text messaged. Waterproofing is important now that we use mobile as long as we are awake.
@David_337 Жыл бұрын
@@hphp7587 Relatively recent flagship smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG phones had removable back covers AND had an IP67 rating for waterproofing. And they had all of the bells and whistles like NFC and wireless charging. In fact, non-removable back covers were known to be mostly an iPhone thing in that era, and one of the things Android users boasted about was being able to swap batteries. It's all excuses by the manufacturers. You can do waterproofing and removable batteries/covers just fine. They've been doing that until they all decided in unison that they'd rather save a few dollars on manufacturing and encourage you to buy new phones more often. The same happened with removing the headphone jack (which phones with IP67 rating also had) to save on manufacturing and to encourage buying overpriced wireless earbuds.

This should be linked on the store with the adhesives, as this is probably the most difficult part of the whole process. Especially for us perfectionist types, who also want to try to get the best possible seal on our previously waterproof devices.

Also check the adhesive used as some has to be heated after closing but before compressing it as it will not cure/adhere correctly if you don't.

I am one of those people who doesn't mind spending hours (if need be) searching the web for DIY repairs. The adhesive strip on the rear panel of my phone was coming apart so I took it to Tmobile and was told that if I paid $100 they would send me a new phone. Thanks to Google I can fix it myself for less than $10.00!!! TY so,so much. When someone says "Google it" you can be rest assured that when you ask Google a question (no matter how dumb it may sound ) you are 100% guaranteed to find the answer!!! Google has saved me hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in costly car repairs. I just watch the videos, make sure I have the proper tools and then I DIY!!!

Does replacing the adhesives remove it's waterproofing capability?
@jennysergio9028 Жыл бұрын
Same question too .
@carper1220 Жыл бұрын
The point of installing these pre-cut adhesives is to keep the water resistance when replacing screen, batteries etc. That's why they're shaped the way they are, which is the same as the original one, that by the point you have opened your phone, lost its water-sealing capabilities. So yes, if you want to keep your phone mostly* waterproof, be sure to use them instead of just glue or hand-cut adhesive. They-re probably not as reliable as the original one, but so isn't a cracked screen.

I bought from aliexpress, if you want to use glue please do not use super glue, it does not end well for me. I used b7000 glue but there is many other glue you can google it. Some advice from shop expert said that if you use the glue do not proceed to install the back cover or screen the moment after apply glue, let it solidify a bit (not totally soldified, as long as it not in liquid anymore) then install the screen/cover. If you install the screen while glue still liquid, you might seep the glue inside the screen or other component they advice.

Free of charge! It must be a known swollen battery defect that Samsung is not recalling like so many other companies do. You send it to them and they determine what they already knew! Just use gorilla two-sided mounting tape and a pair of scissors to cut the tape into thin strips that you then place along the sides of the back cover of your phone. Peel off the other plastic on the other side of the tape and then firmly press it down on the back of your phone. Problem solved! No need to order these special adhesive kits from Amazon or other websites. Look no further than your local hardware store.
