Thanks so much for all of your content Chris. Your drills and teachings have helped me improve my athletes sprint times this season. They are also healthier and enjoy the training much more.

Interesting. This rings true. I like those drills too!

Interesting stuff Coach Korfist - on that slice drill with the flick, I'm not recognizing the flick... Could you explain what to look for? Thanks!

Thank you for sharing this content, Chris! Is it worth it to still do "boom" drills?

For slicing .. is there ever concern for to much force/emphasis\stress on the hamstring? Seems like it is a much more hamstring dominant movement compared to stomping.

Great info! Would B-skip be a good example to aid in slicing through? Thanks
@coachchriskorfist Жыл бұрын
B-skip with the intention to pull the body over hinge (ankle rocker). I think the short coming is the lack of velocity. I have seen athletes get to the strike pose lots of ways. They all finish the same.

What about hip extension exercises on the 4-way hip machine? Possibly even using an isometric hold in key spots. Would that be a good way to develop "slice" power and speed?

So does slice means that accelerating the leg towards the ground and moving the hips forward resulting in short ground contact, am i right?? Also can you suggest any cues for accelerating the leg towards ground??
@davidmcquade47434 ай бұрын
Do you recommend that distance runners also use a slice movement rather than a stomping (vertical) force into the ground?
@lewischime57373 ай бұрын
Slicing is faster but energy intensive cause to have a good slice you need to get your knees up which distance runners don't cause it's energy intensive

Your baseball story! Ha ha I'm in the same boat with my son - had to bribe him this year to not play baseball so we could get our time back.

Can we see some before and after implementation of these drills?
@coachchriskorfist Жыл бұрын
I will work on pulling them out of previous presentations i have done at TFC.

These are fascinating coach!! So nice to see someone looking at speed with a different perspective. Can I ask? Do you try and turn your ‘stompers’ into ‘slicers’, or do you consider them equally valid techniques?
@coachchriskorfist Жыл бұрын
I have been focusing on slicing this year and I feel that is why we had such good success on all levels. Stomping is great for the thigh angular velocity and midstance balance but to move down the track, I like the slice. So does Ken Clark. Check out his instagram post on his latest research. instagram.com/p/Cv7dXK9tKug/?hl=en

@@coachchriskorfist Funny, I’m sure it was Ken’s data on spiky vertical forces in elites that made me think stumping made sense. I’ve always thought of negative foot speed as an accel thing but visually it makes a lot of sense to me, the idea of slicing. Great series

Thanks Coach! How do Slices differ from Primetimes in terms of execution?
@coachchriskorfist Жыл бұрын
I see people doing primetimes as a warmup drill with with variations. Most times I never see what has to happen which is to pull your hips over the hinge (ankle rocker). Slice attempst to pull hips over your hingle (ankle rocker)
@derekshore2084 Жыл бұрын
Ok this makes total sense! Thanks for your response!
@zber9043 Жыл бұрын
slicers are more tendon dominant i.e. obadele thompson?
@lancastergerard8 ай бұрын
Slice = prime times

Feels like an advertisement for straight leg bounds?
@coachchriskorfist Жыл бұрын
I would say a straight leg bound with a cycle through.
