How To Read A Basic Crochet Pattern

Follow along with me as I show you 5 Basic Crochet stitches, their abbreviations, their symbols and how you would read them in both a written pattern and diagram pattern. My goal is that after watching this video you will feel more confident in finding a basic crochet pattern and be able to follow the instructions and make it all by yourself.

This is the best tutorial for beginners! “What it looks like” and the animated arrows feels like a private lesson. Providing written instructions on top of the chart (as well as reviewing the row you just completed) instills confidence. I added your video to my Pinterest crochet board.

Hi Meme AMA. I completely understand what you mean about the speed of the video. It is one of the most difficult things for anyone teaching crochet or knit on KZbin because there are so many people watching and so many different levels of speed people need. What is awesome though is that YOU can control the speed of my video and ALL videos here on KZbin! If you go to the setting of the video which you will either find in the bottom right hand corner of my video and it looks like a gear or the upper right hand of my video which will look like 3 dots, you will be able to click on Playback Speed and control the speed of my video making it the right speed for you. I hope this helps! 😊🧡🧶

Thank you for this video. A neighbor asked me for help working from a pattern today so I came looking for videos that might help her. One suggestion I have for you is to make the slip stitch symbol a filled in circle (I believe this is commonly used) instead of an oval that is faintly filled in so it doesn't look so much like a chain stitch.
