Interesting. I own a Parrot and find it only good when using an iPhone for the text and a DSLR for the camera. If that setup works for you, then great! But I tend to use a webcam and an iPad.

Nice set-up, reasonably priced -- thanks for the links. In reality, this takes some practice, because the camera is better than you'd think at capturing the little movements of your eyes darting back-and-forth as you read -- and there's nothing like darting eyes to make you look stupid on camera! It's helpful to set the rig up at some distance from you, and to make the text's margins wide at each side, so each line of text is short.

Hi Brighton! Great video-thank you. Just want to clarify what you said at the end-if I'm using an iPhone (vs. video camera) to record, I should use another iPhone in the tray, for the teleprompter, right? But if I'm using a video camera, I can use an iPad for the teleprompter script?

Mostly yes. Unless you have an iPhone with three lenses on the back. The other iPhones have a pretty wide camera, so you'll need to sit pretty close to the teleprompter. But when there are three lenses, one is telephoto, and if you use that lens, you can sit further back and use an iPad for the script. It's mostly about how far back and forth your eyes need to move. The further away you are the less they move. I hope that helps! I need to get a new iPhone with 3 lenses to demonstrate!

Great Video! Question: How does the glass placed in front of the camera affect the image quality? Do you need to clean the glass regularly to keep it clear of blemishes and little specks that find their way onto the glass? 👍

The glass decreases the amount of light because it's tinted a little. So if you're in a dark space, it could lower quality. But I just make a point to not touch the glass and it stays pretty clean (it has that black cloth over the top, so no dust is building up.)

Yes - I do this with my webcam more often than with a DSLR. you just need a webcam with a quarter-20 screw hole in the bottom (or you could duct-tape your webcam to the teleprompter in a pinch.)

I have a 17mm on a Canon cropped sensor (so 27mm on a full frame sensor) and there's plenty of room around the edges. My guess would be somewhere in the low 20s.

That is correct Kimberly. You need a recording device and a teleprompting device. Both can be iPhones or one iPhone and one iPad. You can definitely use a Canon video camera. Just be sure to not show the teleprompter frame in the shot. And you cannot turn the LCD screen forward (no light allowed behind the one way mirror.)

What if you only have a 4k web can and you like sitting in front of our camera because you don't have the room to put a tripod or stand up and still be on camera. I show people what I am doing on the screen so I cant be standing up to do this? Can you use the teleprompter on your computer screen? and still, be able to do screen capture videos? Can you use this with zoom and still have a green screen background if you want to be on screen to create the intro section of your video.

It can be done with a portable external monitor that fits into a Teleprompter. Then you’d need a piece of hardware to connect your camera to your computer. I think BlackMagic sells a converter. Stasik. The first 58 seconds of this video is done with this teleprompter. You can tell by my eyes - I blink about 10x more often when not reading the teleprompter! It absorbs about 1 stop of light.

White backgrounds are difficult. You need to get a lot of light on the background, then you need to manually set your camera exposure. And setting the exposure is different on every camera so it's hard to make a tutorial :-(

Hi if you change the thumbnail text color with dark will be more catch-eye. Otherwise now text on the thumbnail blending with the background color.
