Can’t stand my own voice on video. I sound so different makes me self conscious. When I listen to myself I have to ask if it’s me speaking. What I here with my ears as I talk is not the same voice I hear when I hear a playback. It weird.
@elliscody06
@elliscody06 4 жыл бұрын
PresidentUSVI It’s because when you speak you’re hearing a combination of your head voice and a little of what’s coming out of your mouth. Your voice resonating in your head sounds different than what people actually hear. Singers deal with this when we record. It took me a long time to get used to what I actually sound like.

On my blogs I got rid of the "UH"s by thinking with my mouth CLOSED. I noticed that when I was searching my mind for words, I'd say "UH" everytime. Now I just pause with my mouth closed when trying to think of my next point. I hope this helps someone. :-)

I value your lesson and -amazed that you explained exactly why I naturally don’t have Ahs Ums - eventually this led me to teaching students and executives how to stop these unnecessary repeated sounds which are not proper words - another way is to practice substituting these sounds with proper words like ‘and’ ‘’also’ and many more - hope this helps too

Great tips for speaking on camera! I think a lot of it boils down to practise, practise, practise! The most important point I realised over the years, is to get started. It doesn't matter if it's just a baby step, but if we make sure we're taking tiny steps forward, we can be sure that we're improving!

Damn really good advice here. If I may say so, yes you have come a long, long, long way since your two year anniversary. Today’s KZbin audience probably would have “no soup for you, NEXT’ED” you 😂. Inflection and eye contact huge points as well. Notes definitely help, I have to fully prepare because I don’t personally like jump cuts (I will cover them if I can’t get around them). I try to speak in full sentences as well. I’ll do a second third or 10th take if I don’t like how it sounds so listening to what you are saying is also helpful. Eye contact, the lens is a cold dead soulless beast, behind it are engaged viewers, so it makes looking down the barrel and keeping it there challenging, but break away too much from it (especially if you have a rear facing monitor to look at yourself in) is super distracting and inadvertently disengages the audience. Agreed practice helps, impossible to get good without experience. Great video man, the hand gestures “power box” is new to me, good to know I can utilize that. Power BOX GO!
