How to read AC or air conditioner condenser unit wiring diagram / schematic. I go over 4 AC condenser wiring diagrams and explain how to read them and what all the symbols and charts on the label mean. Most of the time, the wiring diagram or schematic can be found on the inside of the condenser electric panel access door.

➡️ Was this video too long? Here is a video of a simple breakdown of the condenser unit wiring diagram, only 10 minutes long :)

My gracious audience! :) I apologize for making such an incredibly long video but I do hope it will be worth your time! Get some snacks ;) If you could please like this comment if you actually watched this video all the way through I would much appreciate it! And if you want to go above and beyond, reply to the comment and tell us what you thought. That will give me an idea of whether I should ever do something like this again. Now allow me a brief moment to share the backstory. :) This video took me a whole week to make, frankly I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into. This stuff is harder to explain than I thought. (kudos to all the HVAC teachers) Normally the video editing software I use, takes around 3 hours to render and export a video file. (I use a laptop, nothing fancy) This video took 35 hours to export. I thought the computer was joking but when I checked 4 hours later I confirmed that it wasn’t. Laptop was humming like it was preparing to pop a vessel so I put it next to an air register so it can relax in the cool breeze when the AC comes on and left it alone for the next day and a half. Fortunately, everything ended well and the video is finally uploaded! But since it was so long KZbin flagged it and I had to wait another day for it to get reviewed. So needless to say, if my viewers deem this video as not worth the above mentioned effort, then I am definitely not even going to consider doing something like this again heh. Thanks for reading and watching guys! My subscribers are all awesome!!! Seriously. I rarely get any nasty comments. Thank you for all your positivity and support! Stay cool

@Fans, speakers, and more Thank you for the interest! I have a 2012 Samsung, Windows 7, Intel i7 processor @ 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM. After this video I decided I need to stop being cheap and upgrade. I am thinking of getting a desktop/tower computer with two monitors (so I can see the whole timeline when editing) or perhaps I'll just get one but it would be that long curved monitor.

@@WordofAdviceTV Fantastic! Just make sure that the graphics card you get is optimized for video editing and not, for example, gaming. I would recommend something like an "Inno3D GT 730 Graphics Card". In the case where you DO get the card I recommended, I would research to see what computers are compatible with that card. Here's the article I read to get the recommendation: www.toppctech.com/best-graphics-cards-for-video-editing/

@@WordofAdviceTV Actually, wait. That card I recommended........well, it's not in stock at Amazon.com. What video editing software do you use? If it mainly uses the CPU, then getting a more powerful CPU would be more beneficial.

I'm a current student enrolled for an HVAC/R 2 year degree program at a local community college here in San Antonio, Texas and my professor recommended this video for schematic interpretation. Thank you very much for the video. I've never been the textbook kind of student, I need a visual or hands-on study to help me understand it and this video does it perfectly. The last 7 minutes of the video are very reassuring and should give confidence to anyone who may be having a hard time understanding the wiring schematics. The real-world application seems to be much easier to understand (visually) than written out in ladder & pictorial diagrams. How to train a dragon was a bonus!

OMG, long time watcher, first time commentor . lol WHY AREN'T YOU TEACHING? You are so good at it! UNLIKE, all the other HVAC videos out there, You don't assume we already know things, just because you do, or because you think it's a given that we know it, or should know it. Those times when you go off script (and apologize for it) seems to be the things I needed help with the most! I think guys are visual and hands on learners. When you added the last diagram and showed what each thing was on the AC unit, it tied it all together! I actually can look at a diagram and do more than pretend I know what it all means! Cause NOW I REALLY KNOW!! You don't know how many hours of videos I watched to learn what you taught me in the first 10 minutes! lol I'm a maintenance man at a hotel and because of your videos ,, I have fixed several HVAC units! Also thanks for explaining about bypassing switches with a jumper. I knew you could but not exactly how. This video was simply the icing on the cake that put everything together to where I now I can comprehend it all. ps I watched all the commercials to hopefully get you better adsense pay. lol AND I will be buying a couple of tshirts to support your bad ass teaching skills~!! I can't thank you enough!!!

Haha your comment was great! I even read it twice :D It's nice to hear that you got a lot out of the video! And that the extra details I explained were actually beneficial. I appreciate you watching all the commercials although I am not sure if that impacts adsense at all. (whether someone watches 5 seconds of it or the whole thing) Haha and thanks for buying a T-shirt! That merch stuff is something KZbin kept urging me to do so I quickly put those together and got the shirt shop launched. (The whole process besides the shirt design and description is done by TeeSpring and KZbin) Anyway, glad to hear that you are now the wiring diagram expert! Had training in radio and tv repair when i was 18 back when ic's were first coming out. Only do HVAC for family and friends. Have found that a lot of HVAC techs will go out and just start putting freon in before they even check to see if compressor is running. ALWAYS check why it is not cooling before just saying it is low on freon. Nice to have good refresher course. All techs should watch your video. I have had companies want to know who I was because they wanted to hire me to do their troubleshooting because the customer would be able to tell them what component was needed when the tech showed up. I live in rural community and do not have truck to stock parts and closest HVAC parts store is over 30 miles away. No charge just call HVAC tech and tell him what to bring when he shows up. RETIRED AND STILL WORING TO HELP OTHERS

Jay, you are so exceptionally gifted. I do RV Tech work, and after watching how to find a short, and this one I am going out tomorrow to troubleshoot one like in this video ie age and low cost, when installed. I'm going to download and print HVAC schematics and sequence the flow of current. Many thanks, Jay.

Awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing your extensive expertise, and doing it in a fun way. My only quibble, and it's a small one, is that you used the same color (red) for both the low (24 volt) and high (120/240) volt wiring. I hope you keep making great videos like this one, and I hope you and your family are enjoying Hawaii. - Cheers - Jim
